Salute To Seniors: Kwadarius Smith - The First Academy



What was your most memorable race?
 
My most memorable race was the 4x100 meter relay  when I ran that guy down from 15 meters out and we won state in the 4x1.
 
Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?
 
My biggest competition over the past four years was Kermit Whitfield. He pushed me to my best every race.
 
What was your greatest accomplishment?
 
My greatest accomplishment was when I won states in two events and barely lost in the 200 for second place.
 
If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

If I could do it over I would change the way I get out of the blocks and be more explosive.
 
What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

The most difficult obstacte I had to overcome was being more coachable. I am not big on being yelled at all the time.
 
What will you miss the most?

I will miss my team and how we bonded and just had great times! I loved that.

What advice you would give to younger athletes?

The advice I would give to younger athletes is to work hard and don't take anything for granted. If you have an opportunity go for it!
 
What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

Coach Ricky has really truly made me a great athlete and a better person. We kind of grew up with the same background so he knows how it is to survive. We are survivors and that's why we have that bond.

What are your college plans?

I want to attend the U.S. Naval Academy to play football or a really good college so that I could be successful in life.

Who would you like to say thank you to?
 
I would like to say thank you to Todd and all my track and football coaches for making me a better man an believing in me. I love you guys! Todd thank you and I wish the best for flrunners and I love this site. It's so amazing and they make athletes feel good about themselves. I would also like to thank my family for being there by my side and not letting me down. I love you guys.
