Bracy's Back: Beats Field In Pro Opener In Netherlands

It was a long time coming for Marvin Bracy, his first professional race. After rehabbing his hamstring for the past three months and training with Lance Brauman's Pure Athletics group in Clermont, Florida the sprint star was finally let loose. Bracy competed at the Arena Games in Helversum, Netherlands and crossed the line in 10.18 beating Olympic silver medalist and former Florida Gator Jeff Demps who was second in 10.42. He says he was surprised of the new personal best legal time (he's gone sub 10.18 before, but it was wind-aided) and tweeted this message after the race.

10.18 New Legal Pr/ New meet record/ first pro race.. It's only gonna get better. Thank god!

In high school, and throughout college, Bracy talked about running the perfect race. He says his start and training were key to the win.

"My start was technically sound. Plus, I have been doing a lot of 120s and 150s in practice to work on that speed endurance to hold off competitors."

Next up, Bracy will travel to the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana, where he will compete on Saturday, July 13th.
