1A Girls Rankings
By: Nathan Means, Mount Dora Bible School, nathan.means@chbs.org

Team Rankings:

Commentary: Going by regions here.  Region 3 is very strong.  Region 1 looks pretty set.  Region 2 is going to be a fight for the 5th & 6th spot.  The gap from #6 to #7 in regions 3 and 4 seem significant.  I'm very familiar with  Region 2 and the courses they've run.  Conversely, I am not up on the injury bugs in the other regions.  Finally, I don't put much stock in most district meet results for top teams because the meets tend to be formalities.

  Region 1 (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Providence School (3) Should win comfortably, with five in the top 10
2. St. Johns Country Day School (13) Should be easily second, with five in the top 20
3. Maclay School (11) My respect for their coach gives them a shot at moving up…
4. Pensacola Christian Academy (NR) Solidly fourth in the region
5. Jay HS (NR) Solidly fifth
6. Aucilla Christian Academy (NR) A tight pack, if they run well, they're safe
7. Baker Senior HS (NR) Fourth and fifth will have to perform to slip into 6th
8. Blountstown HS (NR) Probably not really in play, 40+ behind 6th in the virtual

  Region 2 (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Oak Hall School (2) Should cruise to a win, with five in the top 10
2. First Academy (Orlando) (7) Should be second (though fast West Orange times should probably be discounted a bit)
3. Circle Christian School (12) Firmly holding the third position
4. Father Lopez Catholic HS (14) Seem to have peaked at flrunners, but still strong
5. The Geneva School (15) Strong team with injury issues, will have a fight on their hands
6. Lakeland Christian School (NR) Peaking at the right time, #1 PR'd a Disney, the rest last week at District 8 meet
7. Mount Dora Bible School (NR) Very close behind LCS, with a stronger 1-2 punch
8. St. Francis Catholic HS (NR) Far behind 6th, way ahead of 10th (beware of PK Yonge)

  Region 3 (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Holy Trinity Academy (1) Still the best.  Four in the strongest region's top 10
2. Shorecrest Prep (4) Will have to look out for CSN, 2, 4 & 5 have to be on their game
3. Community School of Naples (5) Can catch Shorecrest for a trophy if they perform well
4. Evangelical Christian School (10) Significantly ahead of the rest, might could take 3rd on a really good day
5. Brevard HEAT (9) In a no-woman's land with CCS, 4 & 5 can keep them ahead
6. Calvary Christian (Clearwater) (NR) Well ahead of IRC for advancement
7. Indian Rocks Christian (NR) 50 points behind in the virtual, but better than half their region
8. Melbourne Central Catholic HS (NR) Pretty solidly in 8th

  Region 4 (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Westminster Christian School (6) They should win the region.  Even on an off day.
2. South Florida HEAT (8) No presure here for second.
3. Westminster Academy (NR) Must run well to get third, but fourth goes through, too.
4. Miami Country Day School (NR) Could catch Westminster.
5. Kings Academy (NR) In competition with Benjamin for fifth, but should easily advance.
6. Benjamin School (NR) Close enough to Kings to fight for pride, but should also move on.
7. Palmer Trinity School (NR) Well behind Benjamin, need a good day to stay ahead of Wellington
8. Wellington Christian School (NR) Could catch Palmer to be in the top half of the region

Individual Rankings:

Commentary:  Only considering times from Oct 12 on.  Some athletes and teams haven't really been challenged on fast courses since then.  Not sure how hard they'll go this week as most are on teams that should easily advance, but the courses for Regions 1, 2, and 3 are all fast.  All of these girls should safely make it to Tallahassee as individuals anyway.

2A Girls Rankings
By: Mike Becker, Ransom Everglades, mbecker@ransomeverglades.org

Team Rankings:

Commentary: First lets talk state… Bolles and Pine Crest both blow out weak districts and remain on collision course.  Bolles is as strong as ever through 7, while PC number 4 and number 5 are improving.  Ill save my state prediction after I see how convincingly or unconvincingly  PC handles Carrollton and Ransom ( likely 3 and 4 at state in some order).  Region talk.... Boo for unbalancing the regions so badly... Region 4's 7th team ( whoever that is)  is easily a top 15 team but will not qualify.  Region 3, on the other hand, will qualify teams with 5th runners running over 24 minutes. maybe even 25 minutes.  Now region talk....  the crystal ball likes Bolles to cruise, and in no particular order the following to qualify for state..... Bishop Kenney, Snyder, West Florida Tech, Pensacola Catholic and Wakulla. No sweep for Bolles  this week, but a dominant performance nonetheless.  Region 2 Favorite is surging  Lake Highland Prep, but right behind are Eastside and Trinity Prep followed ( again in no particular order) by  Gulf, Nature Coast,  and Bishop Moore.  Region 3 lucks out big time and gives every team that wakes up that morning a shot to qualify.  Academy of Holy Names  is the odds on favorite to win this region, with Lemon Bay, Labelle  and Immokalee going to qualify as well.  But I have no clue who the other two teams will be.  Some team will be very suprised and happy for sure.  That leaves us with Region 4.  This region should be two regions.  Well enough pontificating.... Pine Crest wins, going away,  while RE and Carrollton battle for second as they always do..... crystal ball tells me Gibbons probably gets fourth as it is their home course), but Titusville right  there.  The following teams will battle for the last two  - Lincoln Park, Key West and and Rockledge.  I give the edge to the Key West Conchs are improving by the week.  But Rockledge right there too.   The 7th place team here in region 4  would have been at least 3rd in region 3, but c'est la vie.

  Team Name, Region (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Bolles (1) As deep as any AA team has ever been
2. Pine Crest (2) very, very talented and hungry, do they have the 4 and 5?
3. Ransom Everglades (3) Best fo the rest…..
4. Carrollton (4) But not by much,,, carrollton has had to overcome lots of inujries
5. West Florida Tech (6) 5 through 10 still fuzzy, but I like WFT chances
6. Lake Highland Prep (9) Wins a compettive district
7. Titusville (8) Wins a competitive district
8. Trinity Prep (7) In the top 10 even wiithout one of their top runners
9. Bishop Kenny (5) A little off at districts, but its only districts
10. Eastside (10) looked  good last week, could be better than 10
11. Lemon Bay (11) Proud and will give it a go this week
12. Cardinal Gibbons (13) Running on home course  and well coached
13. Academy of Holy Names (12) Top team in region?
14. Immokalee (14) two deep but weak region
15. Rocklegde (NR)
16. Key West  (NR)
17. Bishop Moore (NR)
18. Lincoln Park (NR)

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: Expect a region 4 battle between Rogers and Montgomery and Yared.  Without hills, and a flat course this week the advantage to a surging and defending region champion Rogers ( who is great at cross country duals and farleking a race).  Archer, Castillo and  Jovanovik will be in the money, but will need improvement to challenge for the top 3 spots . It is true that nine of the top 10 ranked kids are in  Region 1 or region 4.    Ladies and gentlmen… it is not a mistake that Bolles has 7 in the top 20.  But they will not sweep region as they did districts.  Harris, for sure, will break up the party, and could even win . Look for Grippo to win region 2, I like Munoz in region 3.

Athlete Name, Grade – Team (Prev.)  Time, Comments:
1. Mackenzie Wilson- Bolles (1) Leader going into regions, but with lots of challengers
2. Julia Montgomery- Pine Crest (2) Defending state champion ready to defend
3. Daesha Rogers- Jackson (10) Her 19:03 at Larry and Penny is worth 18:30 any where else
4. Tsion Yared- Pine Crest (3) Its hard to predict how a 11 or 12 year old will do - but she can win the whole enchilada
5. Madison Harris - Wakulla (4) Destroys district field, a threat for gold
6. Ally Hajda- Bolles (5) Certainly in top 10, but a nudge behind top 5 going into home stretch
7. Katherine Jovanovik - Pine Crest (7) Consistent and can get on podium
8. Claire Castillo - Titusville (6) Big win and fast time son fast courses, She is likely is on the podium somewhere
9. Lauren Archer- Ransom Everglades (8) Always a big meet performer, can easily go better than 9th
10. Kari Grippo - Gulf HS (11) Been hot lately, missed pre state so hard to tell if she is better than 9
11. Rachel Shapiro - Bolles (9) Can break into top 10 with big race
12. Anita Munoz-Immokallee (12) Blows away field at Districts, still hard to see where she is at
13. Annie Penenieri- Bolles (13)
14. Meagan Giddeons-Taylor County (14)
15. Lily Arnold - Bolles (15)
16. Suzanne Dannheim- Bolles (16)
17. Leigha Torrina - Marion (17)
18. Michaela Ashley -Arnold (18)
19. Katarina Stepanovich- Pine Crest  (19)
20. Aoife Oriordon- Bolles (20)
21. Marie Madiedo - Carrollton (21) Has been in top 10 at state before
22. Rachel Stockton- Lake Highland Prep (NR)
23. Raleigh Nesbitt _West Florida Tech (22)

3A Girls Rankings
By: John Stevenson, Sarasota HS, john.stevenson@sarasotacountyschools.net

Team Rankings:

Commentary: It's Region week!!! Districts cleaned up a little of the rankings with head-to-head matchups. Estero rolled past Ft. Myers in their district meet, setting up for another Region championship for Estero. While Ft. Myers and Sarasota will be dueling for runner-up. Region 1 match-up will be between Ft. Walton Beach and Pace. Seabreeze is the favorite for Region 2, while Merritt Island is my pick for Region 4 champion.

  Team Name, Region (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Estero, 3 (1) Another couple weeks have gone by and still the same story…undefeated! Lee County Champs and District 3A-11 Champions. The Estero girls are going to be mentally and physically prepared after this week…raced Estero Park twice and next up is Dover Trails...both difficult venues. Clear favorite for Region 3 champion.
2. Sarasota, 3 (2) Dominate performance at District 3A-10 meet at the quick Eagle Lake Park with 18 points. Young team and running fast. Do they have the strength for Dover Trails to compete with Estero?
3. Fort Myers, 3 (3) Fort Myers as raced with the past couple weeks at Estero Park! They have a good pack going on in the 2-4 runners. If their 5th can move up some, there is a good chance for top 2 at Regionals and States.
4. Fort Walton Beach, 1 (4) District 3A-2 champion! Ran the fastest average to date with 19:38. Back half is solid with 4-7 running 20 seconds of each other…a lethal combination with 2 studs upfront. Will be great to see the Region 1 race.
5. Pace, 1 (5) Almost a clean sweep at District 1 race. Placing the first 4 runners and all 7 runners in the top 10. They are poised for the big match-up between FWB and themselves.
6. Seabreeze, 2 (6) Went 3-6 at the District 5 meet and placed 5 runners in the top 10. The pack running grabbed the district title from Ocala and looking for another title coming this weekend at Region 2 meet!
7. Lakewood Ranch, 3 (7) Ran a solid race at District 3A-10. Big race by Julia Ortiz and Andrea McDonald. Looking like another top 10 finish at states.
8. Creekside, 1 (8) Narrowly defeated Nease at District 3A-4 meet by 5 points. Came down to Creekside's spread of 0:52 to bring home the victory. Creekside's #4 and #5 scored 23 points compared to Nease's 4 and 5 with 36 points.
9. Nease, 1 (9) 2nd place at District meet…are they looking for revenge in Regionals? Always a chance when you have Xiang up front, but made need #4 and #5 to step up to stay in the top 10 at States.
10. Ocala Vanguard. 2 (10) Same story for Ocala…two major runners up front, but just missing the depth in 4-5. But will get region 2 runner-up behind Seabreeze.
11. Gulf Coast, 3 (11) District 3A-12 champion by defeating Naples by 11 points (56-67). Will need to lower their spread if they want a top 10 finish at states.
12. Niceville, 1 (12) Solid team and pretty sure a lock for getting out Region 1.
13. Merritt Island, 4 (13) Looks like Merritt Island is coming into form with the return to form of Sarah Hammond and Nina Le. If they can sew up their back half, they might surprise a few teams at States.
14. Stanton Prep, 1 NR Improving each week. Stanton Prep delivered a district title and could be the last team from Region 1 to get to Tally! Will be a battle between Stanton and Ponte Vedra.
15. Robinson, 3 (15) Looks like its going to be a dog fight for the 6th spot from Region 3. Naples and Robinson are dead tied for the last spot in the virtual meet. It will come down to the 5th runner (or the 6th)…

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: With districts last week, its pretty hard to determine who ran faster than who since there were so many different courses through the week, so tried my best to look at course difficulty and head-to-head. Xiang still holding onto the top spot with Barlow and Edwards right behind. Region 3 match-up is very intriguing with Barlow, Edwards, Leon, and the freshman dark horse Molloy. It will be interesting to see what Rudman can do with Xiang. Many ladies ran some great district races, but need more consistency from some to be ranked.

Athlete Name, Grade – Team (Prev.)  Time, Comments:
1. Karen Xiang, 12, Nease 1 17:52. She holds the fastest time in the state and still undefeated for the season…add district champion to her great senior season.
2. Caroline Barlow, 12, Gulf Coast 2 17:53. Took the district title right the get go and never looked back. Sets up nicely for the battle at Dover Trails this Saturday.
3. Emily Edwards, 12, Ft. Myers 3 18:00. Followed the pack for most of the district 11 meet until Emily pulled away from Leon to go 19:06 at the tough Estero park course
4. Araceli Leon, 12, Estero 4 18:14. One of the most consistent runners of the year…can she break through against Emily and Caroline?
5. Emma Rudman, 10, Fort Walton 5 18:19. District 1 title is hers and I'm sure she is ready to battle Xiang…tough order though.
6. Devin Molloy, 9, Barron Collier 6 18:32. Have to give Devin credit to try and stay with Barlow at the district meet but the freshman couldn't last. Look for her to surprise a few at the Region meet.
7. Rachel Kling, 11, Pace 16 18:44. Keeps improving each week with monster race at districts taking the title
8. Daley Cline, 10, Estero 8 18:44. Becoming a main part of Estero's #1 ranking. Came in 3rd overall the competitive district 11 meet.
9. Cheyenne Andrew, 12, Pace 9 18:50. Ran a solid district meet, coming in 2nd behind her teammate Rachel Kling. Nice 1-2 punch for Pace.
10. Hannah Giangaspro, 12, Bartram Trail 12 18:53. Coming in 2nd at the District 5 meet behind #1 Xiang. Looking to qualify for an individual spot at states.
11. Audrey Carpenter, 11, Ocala Vanguard 10 18:55.  The duo from Ocala continue to roll. Audrey took 1st overall at the district 5 meet.
12. Elizabeth Mulford, 11, Ocala Vanguard 11 19:07. Right behind her teammate at districts. The duo always keep Ocala in the mix.
13. Amber Philpott, 10, Springstead NR 18:31. Big PR for Amber at the mostly asphalt course of McKethan Park, but she has ran in the 19's this season. Can't put her yet with top ladies, but we will see her at states for sure.
14. Angelina Grebe, 11, Sarasota 14 18:57. Ran to her PR from 2012 at the fast Eagle Lake Park while being sick with the flu…gutsy performance.
15. Bethany Jenkins, 12, Estero 15 18:17. Can't count out Bethany in any big race! She always perform when needed, but a little inconsistent to be ranked in top 10.
16. Sage Lyons, 9, Sarasota 17 18:51. Took the 1st mile slow then dropped the field at district 10 meet taking the title.
17. Katie Slater, 12, Estero 7 18:37. Fell back a little to 4th on the talented Estero team. She always races well in big meets. I bet a big bounce back at the Region meet.
18. Maura Rose Poling, 9, Lely 18 18:57. Nice big PR at districts coming in 3rd overall. Looks like going to states as an individual is good possibility.
19. Breeana Salcedo, 10, Cypress Lake 13 19:00. Ran 19:58 just in front of Megan at the tough Estero park course. Will need a good effort to move on to states at the talent filled region 3 meet.
20. Tabatha Henergy, 12, Okeechobee NR 18:50. Holy mackerel!! Dropped over 70 seconds in the past 2 meets. Needs to be a little more consistent to be ranked with the ladies in the 18's, but still have Regionals to move up…well done though!!
21. Megan Giovanniello, 9, Ida S. Baker 19 19:28. Just behind Breeana at district meet. Again another talented individual that could make it to states in Region 3
22. April Polie, 12, Fort Walton Beach NR 19:22. PR at districts for the senior of FWB. Looking to end XC career on a high note!
23. Megan Slater, 11, Estero 20 19:25. Dropped off a bit at districts with 20:40. Estero Park is slow, but not sure 75 seconds slow.
24. Alexander Wallace, 10, Chiles 21 19:25. Consistent in the past few weeks. Good chance for a PR this week at Region 1 meet.
25. Bethany Hardcastle, 11, South Fork 23 19:14. On fire in the past 2 weeks with PR at district 14 meet.

  Dropped from rankings:
  Maggie Parrish, 10, Chamberlain 22
  Kianna Bonnet, 10, Seebreeze 24
  Ashton McMurray, 12, Chiles 25

4A Girls Rankings
By: Ryan Raposo, John A. Ferguson HS, ryanraposo@gmail.com

Commentary: Overall rankings were a little tricky because of the variety of courses everyone was running on this past week, but only Districts 3, 15, and 16 stood out as needing time adjustments as is shown below. Some other Districts seemed a little fast such as Districts 4 and 8, while some seemed a little slower such as Districts 5, 7, 9, and 11. But I am assuming all of the time differences in these courses are based on either weather or teams coasting through the District round, because I received no notifications from any coaches about adverse weather conditions. Obviously at the Region Championships all of this will come into fold. The teams listed below are the ones who I feel have a shot at making it out of their Regions. So good luck this week everyone!

Team Rankings by Region:

Region 1 Commentary: There are so many quality teams in this Region that any team that has a bad day will be left at home as someone else will definitely step up and gladly take their spot. Winter Park is the best team around, without question. Lake Mary and Olympia are definitely top 5 hopefuls if they keep running up to par.
  Region 1: State (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Winter Park, 1 1 (1) 19:11 Team Avg, 1st in District 4
2. Lake Mary, 1 5 (6) 20:02 Team Avg, 1st in District 2
3. Olympia, 1 6 (7) 19:35 Team Avg, 1st in District 3 (add 30s)
4. Winter Springs, 1 8 (T-16) 20:17 Team Avg, 2nd in District 2
5. Mandarin, 1 11 (11) 20:31 Team Avg, 1st in District 1
6. Lake Brantley, 1 13 (NR) 20:37 Team Avg, 3rd in District 2
7. Lyman, 1 x (NR) 20:44 Team Avg, 4th in District 2
8. West Orange, 1 x (NR) 20:16 Team Avg, 2nd in District 3 (add 30s)
9. Buchholz, 1 x (T-16) 20:46 Team Avg, 2nd in District 1
10. Fletcher, 1 x (T-16) 20:47 Team Avg, 3rd in District 1
11. Dr. Phillips, 1 x (10) 20:48 Team Avg, 2nd in District 4
12. Fleming Island, 1 x (NR) 20:48 Team Avg, 4th in District 1
13. Hagerty 1 x (NR) 20:53 Team Avg, 5th in District 2
14. Timber Creek, 1 x (NR) 20:59 Team Avg, 3rd in District 4

Region 2 Commentary: A little bit of shuffling happened here when looking at the team results, but unless Districts 5 and 7 were a good 45-60 seconds slow, the shuffling just might be accurate. North Port had a great District meet and looks to be the Region favorite as Plant lost one of it's top five runners a couple weeks back.
  Region 2: State (Prev.)  Comments:
1. North Port, 2 4 (12) 20:00 Team Avg, 1st in District 8
2. Plant, 2 9 (4) 20:19 Team Avg, 1st in District 6
3. Sarasota Riverview, 2 10 (9) 20:20 Team Avg, 2nd in District 8
4. Palm Harbor University, 2 15 (NR) 20:44 Team Avg, 3rd in District 8
5. Freedom, 2 16 (NR) 20:58 Team Avg, 2nd in District 6
6. Wiregrass Ranch, 2 17 (NR) 20:55 Team Avg, 3rd in District 6
7. Sickles, 2 x (NR) 21:00 Team Avg, 4th in District 6
8. Seminole, 2 x (NR) 21:04 Team Avg, 4th in District 8
9. Wharton, 2 x (NR) 21:07 Team Avg, 5th in District 6
10. St. Cloud, 2 x (15) 21:23 Team Avg, 1st in District 5
11. George Jenkins, 2 x (14) 21:27 Team Avg, 2nd in District 5
12. Newsome, 2 x (17) 21:29 Team Avg, 1st in District 7

Region 3 Commentary: This is always the trickiest Region to figure out because many of these teams stay under the radar all season long. But limited exposure in big meets ends up reducing these lower squads to the bottom tier of the state meet. While Park Vista is a top ten hopeful, the rest don't have much upward mobility.
  Region 3: State (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Parc Vista, 3 14 (8) 20:41 Team Avg, 1st in District 11
2. Palm Beach Central, 3 18 (20) 21:10 Team Avg, 1st in District 10
3. Dwyer, 3 21 (21) 22:16 Team Avg, 2nd in District 10
4. Jupiter, 3 22 (NR) 22:10 Team Avg, 3rd in District 10
5. Douglas, 3 23 (NR) 22:23 Team Avg, 1st in District 12
6. Wellington, 3 24 (NR) 22:44 Team Avg, 4th in District 10
7. Boca Raton, 3 x (23) 22:47 Team Avg, 2nd in District 11
8. Spanish River, 3 x (18) 22:35 Team Avg, 3rd in District 11
9. Vero Beach, 3 x (22) 22:56 Team Avg, 1st in District 9

Region 4 Commentary: With the addition of St. Thomas this year, Region 4 is going to be the most exciting on the top end. Keep on eye on Ferguson with the home course advantage to possibly upset St. Thomas, with Lourdes and the other teams falling in line as their ranked. There shouldn't be much sway here.
  Region 4: State (Prev.)  Comments:

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: Unlike the last ranking, there was a lot of shuffling this time. Now obviously we're looking at many different courses run on different days throughout the state, but only three meets were given a noticeable change. District 3 was ridiculously fast and gets a 30s bump down (a borderline 3 mile race perhaps?), while Districts 15 and 16 were a little slow like usual, but great weather  allows for only a 15 second bump up. Impressive performances this week were seen by Emily Headley, jumping back on top even with a course time adjustment, and a few others than jumped more than 20 ranking spots. Hopefully the Region meets will help level out the playing field a little bit so we can get a better picture before state! (After working on this for an hour and then having a brown-out, this redo isn't quite as in-depth as I would like, but it's good enough! Ugh!)

1A Boys Rankings

Team Rankings:

Commentary: District Championships have got to be one of the tougher meets to assess the progress of teams leading into the exciting Region Championships. With the waterdowned format of Districts, some teams with easy advancement, simply "run through" the meet while many others are racing for advancement on new and various courses making research and evaluation a bit more difficult. I have sought to review the efforts of the District Meets as well as October team performances to provide a "best geuss" of the potential top qualifying teams seeking their golden tickets to the State Championships in Tallahassee. This year it seems like most of the Regions will be having strong competition for those coveted 6 spots with 8-10 teams in each Region so close and competitive for a State berth. Hats off to the coaches and athletes for a great season of competition and for making ranking the athletes such a tough and yet enjoyable task. Excited to see the top 24 qualifying teams shine through at Regions enroute to Tallahassee and the Florida State Championships. Good luck to all the coaches and teams in Class 1A!

  Region 1
  Team Name (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Maclay School (2) District 3 Finish: 1st (35 points); District Team Average: 17:38;  District Course: Maclay (moderate); Season Best Average: 17:05. The depth of Maclay and their perpensity for running well when it counts the most makes the Mauraders the team to watch and beat.
2. North Florida Christian  (5) District 3 Finish: 2nd (37 points); District Team Average: 17:48;  District Course: Maclay (moderate); Season Best Average: 17:31. Strong District effort puts them in contention for a Region title but will need a bigger effort at 5 to overtake Maclay.
3. Pensacola Christian Academy (9) District 1 Finish: 1st (27 points); District Team Average: 17:55;  District Course: Lake Jackson Park (quick); Season Best Average: 17:49 . Three of the top four set PR's at District which give indication PCA may be gearing up for something good.
4. Jay High School  (NR) District 1 Finish: 2nd (53 points); District Team Average: 18:46;  District Course: Lake Jackson Park (quick); Season Best Average: 18:44 . Strong up front but will need good efforts and placement from #4 and #5 to maintain this spot. Teams at 4-8 are close!
5. Aucilla Christian Academy  (20) District 3 Finish: 3rd (58 points); District Team Average: 19:00;  District Course: Maclay (moderate); Season Best Average: 18:55. These Warriors are strong at #1 and # 2 but will depend upon bigger efforts at #4 and # 5 to hold off the other hungry harriers.
6. Harvest Community School (NR) District 4 Finish: 1st (46 points); District Team Average: 19:30;  District Course: Ronnie VanZant Park (Moderate); Season Best Average: 19:12.  Has a great "pack" with a 1:14 top 5 spread. If the "group" can move up a bit together they are heading to Tallahassee.
7. St. John's Country Day School (NR) District 4 Finish: 2nd (66 points); District Team Average: 19:46;  District Course: Ronnie VanZant Park (Moderate); Season Best Average: 19:18. Another tight "pack" team with a 1:07 spread that will depend on a collective improvement by all to move on.
8. Blountstown High School (NR) District 2 Finish: 1st (45 points); District Team Average: 20:17;  District Course: Altha School Campus (Slow); Season Best Average: 19:22. Could be the team to watch out for who ran on a slow district course and won but will need another a big effort.

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: Much of the emphasis in the Region races focus upon team and individual qualification for the State Meet with the elite individuals competing hard and fine tuning in preparation for the BIG one in Tallahassee.  For Region Ranking purposes, it is generally understood that many individuals and teams "train through" the District Meets while others are battling for advancement which make the Region Rankings a challenge.  I chose to base the Rankings on both District results and recent quality performances over the past month in hopes of providing the best scenario (guess) for performances leading into the Region Meet. The good news is that Polls don't run races and I am excited to see the best of our great 1A classification complete, qualify and move forward to the ultimate high school racing experience, the State Championship. Statewide, things are really beginning to shape up for a fantastic and possible historic finish for Boys Class 1A for individuals. At this time, there are five athletes who have all run under 16:00 which ties the record for the most ever in 1A for a single season from 2010 with another five who are knocking on the door to breaking the barrier as well.  With some great races on tap this weekend at the four Region venues, it should be exciting to see how the elite individuals shake out. Generally, nobody holds back at the Region Meet as all the elite seek to stay sharp and competitive for the State Meet. With Regions 1, 2, and 3 each being run on similar fast courses that should yield good comparative fast performances leading into the State Meet. Good luck to all!

Team Rankings:

Commentary:  Listed below are the top 6 teams in each Region, based on times run at each of the District races.  Each District Course was likely different -- some fast, some slow, maybe some were a bit long, and maybe some were a bit short.  But each of the District races leads to the more important head to head races at the Regional and State Championships.  Congratulations to all teams that have advanced to the next level.  Stay healthy and have some great Regional races this week.

Individual Rankings:

Commentary:  This week's rankings are based on one race only -- The District Championship.  It has been a great season so far and times over the various courses have been impressive.  But if you don't race well in the State Series, your season will come to an early end.  I've listed the Top 15 qualifers in each of the four, 2a Regions, based on District times only.  Next week, our final rankings will be published and I will provide my predictions for the 2a Boys State Championship race.  I wish all 2a boys the very best this next week and hope you race well in your efforts to qualify for Tallahassee.

3A Boys Rankings
By: Ryan Lowe, Lake Nona HS, ryan.lowe@ocps.net

Team Rankings:

Commentary: One week into the postseason and not much has changed at the top.  With the current set-up of the small districts, teams can cruise through the first week of the post-season without too much effort.  Unfortunately, some teams will see their dreams come to an end this week while 24 teams will see if they have what it takes to win a State Championship.  Good luck to everyone this week at your region meet, may the weather be cool, the wind to your back, and the race be run without any injuries.

13. Stanton Prep, R1 (NR) makes the biggest move up the polls and will need an outstanding race to make it
