In His Own Words: Nick Morken - Postseason Plans, Looking Ahead To Track

Hello Flrunners. Welcome back to the blog. I have gotten a lot of feedback saying they’ve enjoyed it so I will continue.

Congratulations to all the runners who competed in the Cross Country Finals in Tallahassee this weekend. The 3A boys’ race started at 10a.m. on Saturday. I had woke up with a cough so I didn’t know how I’d feel. As I passed the mile in 4:45, I knew this wasn’t going to be a fun race. I passed the two mile in 9:55 (10 seconds slow from Pre-State). I held on the last mile the best I could finishing in around 20th position. I have no regrets on my race, for I know that some people dream of finishing that high. I gave it my best and that’s all I’ve ever asked of myself or any of my teammates. My next race will probably be the FACA All-Star Meet. Depending on how I feel will determine if I run Footlocker.

Now onto track season. I’ve always been more of a track guy than cross country anyway. Why go through 15 minutes of pain compared to four? That’s always been my philosophy. My favorite event is by far the 4x800m. All of the guys are returning from the team who got 5th last year so we are looking to improve on that. Overall though the goals are to enjoy this last season. I also look forward to the challenge of proving doubters wrong.

P.S. Sorry I kind of screwed up everyone’s state meet prediction contest. Better luck next year!
