Salute To Seniors: Andre Ewers - Piper High School

What was your most memorable race/moment?

My most memorable moment was at my Regional Championship meet when I ran a 10.33 wind aided and came back in finals and ran a 10.31 (NWI). That day was the day all my hard work and dedication paid off, and the fact that i was hungry for it. That opened my eyes to a lot of big things.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

There is a lot of competition out there, but I would say overall my biggest competition is myself.

What was your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment is what I've achieved my senior year. All my goals I've set since my freshman year I've accomplished 95% percent of them this year. With all the people doubting myself and my school, I came into the season with a really strong mind set of proving people wrong. I was a double champion in the 100 and 200 meters at the BCAA Championships, Districts, and Regional Championships.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?
I I would definitely Improve my Block works more. My start is my Weakness and I Improve that alot Toward the End of the Season

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
The obstacles I had to Over come was Improving my Flexibility & My Start Improving My power coming out  the Blocks

What will you miss the most?

I'm going to miss a lot of the team bonding. I love my team. Over the years we have had some hard working and fun moments.

What advice would you give to younger athletes?

My advice to these young athletes is to always train hard and stay dedicated. Always hang tough and stay hungry. Never settle for less because there is always room for improvement. Being a humble athlete is a big role in achieving greater things. Lastly, have faith and always put God first in everything you do.

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

A couple of my coaches have had big influences in my performance and giving me motivation. Those are a former a coach of mine, Coach Auls and my high school coach Coach McCal. Coach McCal pushes me everyday in practices and trains me like I am the best so I can go out and perform like I am the best.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I would like to thank all the people that have believed in me since day one.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

This season have been my best season in high school. I really feel like all the hard work I have put in in the offseason and during the season is really paying off. I know that going into all my meets this year I always set goals and prepared myself for what was to come.
