Salute To Seniors: Brandon 'B' Damon - American High School

What was your most memorable race/moment?

My most memorable race was the our state state championship 4x800m relay my senior year. I will also remember FHSAA 4A Region Champonship at Ansin Sports Complex where we ran the number one time in Florida at 7:44.64 and the number three time in the nation.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

I would consider myself my biggest competition because I’m more focused and dedicated on beating my own personal record and making sure that every track meet I ran at I set a new personal record.

What was your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment was my senior year because I really improved a lot by dropping my times in  the 800 meters and breaking my personal record.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

The most difficult obstacles were working hard and pushing myself in practice. Even though I didn’t want to practice, I knew that I had to work hard so I could perform well at track meets and set new personal records.

What will you miss the most?

I will miss all my track teammates and coaches. Also, I will miss the hard workouts  that I didn’t wanted to do, but I knew paid off in the end.

What advice would you give to younger athletes?

My advice to younger athletes is don’t complain to your coaches about workouts because they know that they are hard. Hust do what they ask and I guarantee you will thank them in the end.

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

Coach Knowles and Coach Johnson are great coaches and want me to succeed in life. They both have taught me a lot about my good strengths and bad strengths. They have given me the best training and workouts because they know that it's going to make me a better runner in the future.

What are your college plans?

I plan to attend Mississippi Valley State University to run track and cross country and major in Business Administration.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I would like to say thank God for allowing me to have a successful high school career running track and also cross-country. I want to thank my parents and both of my high school coaches for helping me be the best at what I do and also motivating me to be a winner. Also, I have to thank my beautiful girlfriend Dominique Bullock who’s also a track and field runner.
