New Logo, New ROC Teams Announced For FLR15

The 15th flrunners.com Invitational is just 17 days away and the excitement is building for runners and teams around the state. This year's meet logo (pictured above) will incorportate the true Florida beauty of Chain of Lakes Park in Titusville. Meet Director Jason Byrne talks about what went into the design.

"We really love the natural setting of the course. I feel like a lot of the course really captures "real Florida": from the water and bridges to the palm trees to the wildlife. In recent years, we always like to bring an element of the course into the logo. We have never brought in the alligator into a logo, but the course is well known for its gators and the section of the course known as Alligator Alley."

Adding to the excitement, is the announcement of six more teams to the prestigious Race of Champions. Congratulations to the following teams that have earned their spot on the line Saturday morning. Byrne says the group was picked from several criteria.

"I came up with these teams by looking at the FACA rankings, recent results, and team average times always play a big factor for me also. I had about six more teams on the cusp that I almost put in, but I decided to hold those last spots back until we see how things go this weekend."

These six will be joined with the first ten teams selected for the ROC, as well as the remaining teams which will be selected in the coming week, to form a field of twenty-five.
