Team Rankings:

Commentary: Bolles not only defeats Pine Crest (missing SAT kids) but edges Winter park, who non AA people acknowledged as best in State.  In any other year, Bolles is a "sure thing at state and would challenge state records for fewest point totals.  But this isn't any year, even though Bolles 7th runner ran 19:35 at FSU!! (that gets an extra !!). it ain't over til its over... cause ... if, and that's a big if,  if Pine Crest's state champion and 3rd runenr from last year return to 2014 track form, the state meet is still a wash on paper.  But if PC's 1 and 3 from 2013  do not return to form,  Bolles is on track to a clean victory.  PC Still solid runner up.  That leaves Ransom, who is having its best season in 20 years as a prohibitive favorite for third, and an outside shot for the podium. With two under 19 and the possibility of 5 under 21 at state, they are likely not going to slip past third. Leading the best of the rest is a strong Lemon Bay team (less than a minute gap), and a West Florida Tech team ( also short gap) , which is hard to match up since they race out of state, and avoided the head to head competition.  Carrollton hasn't been out of the top 5 in several years, so expect them to make a late surge.  Titusville has it in them to be top 5.   St Brendans is new to the top 10.. Dont be deceived by their slow times in 95 degree larry and Penny races.

  Team Name (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Bolles (1) Defeating Winter Park was not a surprise to me
2. Pine Crest (2) Left 4 and 5 home for pre-state
3. Ransom Evereglades (3) Clearly in drivers seat for 3rd
4. Lemon Bay (4) Keeping at 4 after Disney
5. West Florida tech (5) Running out of state last two weeks- hard to match up
6. Carrollton (6) Wins the 305 meet in 95 degree weather
7. St Brendans (7) Right behind Carrollton at 305 meet.. How will this new team compete on a fast course with hooplah?
8. Titusville (8) Could be better than 6  even since they are strong up front
9. Academy of Holy Names (12)
10. Lake Highland Prep (10)
11. Rockledge (11)
12. Berkeley Prep (9)
13. Bishop Kenny (13)
14. Bishop Moore (14)
15. Eastside (NR)

Individual Rankings

Commentary: Yared wins round 1, and is the favorite heading into Championship season, though Wilson is clearly capable of upending her. Montgomery has proven she can come back before. if you count her out, you are mistaken.  Lucey improving steadily ( three sub 19;00 efforts) … and Archer is on the edge of cracking the top 3., with her track times, she too shows that she is capable of getting gold. Look out for Beatriz Ruan who is now in the elite sub 19:00 company. The 18:21 ran on Holy Trinity (albeit a course where every runner ran PRs) is not a fluke... she is a 11:26 3200 runner two years ago.  Pujals is not a sleeper, if you have seen her run under new coaching this year.  AA Coaches ... sorry but this year is deeper than last year... to get top 20 at state will take faster times.

Athlete Name – Team (Prev.)  Time, Comments:
1. Yared Tsion- Pine Crest (1) Top AA dog at Fl runners, Mopuntain dew and pre-state
2. Mackenzie Wilson - Bolles (2) Top chaser will meet Yared at pre-state, it would not be a major upset
3. Julia Montgomery - Pine Crest  (3) Data says to put her a bit lower, but lowering a two time defending champion is not logical
4. Morgan Lucey - Episcopal  (6) Great pre state race - consistent enough to challenge for gold if a couple are off
5. Lauren Archer- Ransom Everglades (5) personal best at pre-state - improving every week
6. Allyssa Pujols- Gulliver (4) Opted out of prerstate for Disney - impressive there
7. Beatriz Ruan- Ransom (16) 18:21 on course where majority of girls ran PRs following 18:40 pre-state race
8. Ally Hajda- Bolles (7)
9. Rachel Shapiro - Bolles  (8) Runs fast at bale n Trail- also a top 10 runner
10. Leigha Torino - North Marion (9)
11. Skye Zeller - Space Coast   (NR) I don’t care how fast a course Orange was ...19:08 is legit and  beat Mcnally
12. Hannah Fleming- Titusville (11)
13. Mahdere Yared- Pine Crest (12)
14. Audrey Mcnally- Trinity Prep (10)
15. Michaela Ashley- Arnold (14)

3A Girls Rankings
By: John Stevenson, Sarasota HS, john.stevenson@sarasotacountyschools.net

Team Rankings:

Commentary: Creekside is in the driving seat for top 3A girls team. They had a very impressive race at Pre-State. Ft. Myers looked equally good at Pre-State and at Lely Invite. Ocala Vanguard looked impressive at their county meet. I think podium comes down to 4 teams - Creekside, Ft. Myers, Sarasota, and Ocala. Most of the ranking is based on head to head battle at FSU.

  Team Name, Region (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Creekside, 1 (1) 3rd place at FSU…three girls with SB's under 19.
2. Fort Myers, 3 (3) Very impressive race at FSU. 5th overall at FSU
3. Sarasota, 3 (2) 3rd 3A girls team at FSU…inconsistent racing so far
4. Ocala Vanguard, 2 (4) Racing very well now. Not sure they would be considered a dark horse but look for a strong state series. A podium finish wouldn't be a surprise.
5. Niceville, 1 (13) Good showing at FSU with 20:12 average placing 10th overall.
6. Seabreeze, 2 (7) Haven't' raced since Flrunners
7. Chiles, 1 (NR) Won the select race at FSU running 20:15 average. Young team can do some damage in the state series.
8. Chamberlain, 3 (5) Hillsborough County Champions with 20:00 average
9. Columbia, 1 (8) 2nd place at Bronco Invite. Solid team.
10. Estero, 3 (9) Ran 20:22 average at FSU placing 15th just ahead of Fort Walton Beach
11. King, 3 (10) Came in 4th at County meet with 20:24 average
12. Fort Walton Beach, 1 (11) 16th place at FSU with 20:24 average.
13. Lakewood Ranch, 3 (12) Finished 2nd in the FSU Select race with 20:35 average
14. Merritt Island, 4 (6) Placed 23rd at FSU in the Elite race with 20:49 average. Even though they finished just behind Choctawhatchee, their split will help them in the state series
15. Choctawhatchee, 1 (NR) Placed 22nd at FSU in the Elite race with 21:02 average

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: FSU produced some great comparisons with Wollrath taking the 3A top spot. Still think the champion is wide open, but Julie has the edge due to her experience in big races. Mulford of Ocala Vanguard put in a huge time at her county meet though. Last week seems to the start of some fast weeks with cooler temperatures.

Athlete Name, Grade – Team (Prev.)  SB, Comments:
1. Julie Wollrath, 12, Melbourne (1) 18:40; Finished 11th overall and top 3A girl at FSU with season best

3. Kristilin Gear, 10, Ft. Myers (10) 18:47; Helping the Green Wave becoming a major force in the state. Ran PR at FSU
4. Jessica Taylor, 12, Creekside (5) 18:46;  Running lights out. Leading the Creekside ladies to 3rd place at FSU
5. Tara Openshaw, 9, Creekside (11) 18:49; Running faster each meet. Huge race at FSU

7. Angelina Grebe, 12, Sarasota  (4) 18:53; 6th girl from 3A at FSU

4A Girls Rankings
By: Ryan Raposo, John A. Ferguson HS, ryanraposo@gmail.com

Team Rankings:

Commentary: I'm primarily ranking everyone based off of their performances at FSU, although a few individuals or teams might have had an off day.  I made some necessary time adjustments as well. Disney  probably ran 45 seconds slower than FSU, Gateway about 30 seconds slower, and West Orange about 15 seconds faster. The state meet is still the WP show, followed by STA, and then a close Lake Mary and Timber Creek. After that it really will come down to which teams have the better day at the state meet for slots 5 through 10 or so.

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: The top few girls on this list had absolutely amazing performances at FSU, with Gibbons and DeLay stealing the show. Once again Cruz didn't have the best Pre-State meet, but the two underclassmen up front have staked their claim in contention for an individual state title this year. Don't skimp on Johnson to be a top five athlete at State either. Also note that WP scores five girls in the top sixteen, not eliminating individuals, which could be the most dominate finish (point wise, 53 points) by a 4A Girls team since Buchholz in 2005 who scored 52 points and placed five girls inside the state runner-up team's first girl for a 61 point victory margin. Only two teams have ever won a 4A Girls title with less points (McArthur with 28 in 1977, and Orange Park with 39 in 1981).

Boys State Rankings by Classifications:

1A Boys Rankings
By: Mark Caulfield, Circle Christian School, markscaul@aol.com

Team Rankings:

Commentary: Following a large and wide range of fast races (and maybe short courses) these past two weeks, the polls enter their final regular season evaluation. Not much has changed in the top 3, but 2 and 3 have certainly tightened up. Holy Trinity continues to dominate 1A competition and seems to be getting stronger. The Tiger are the 4th ranked team in the state regardless of classification and showed their strength by finishing 3rd at the FSU Pre-State Elite race.  Number 2 and 3 got a chance to go head to head at FSU with Maclay winning the Varsity A race and The Geneva School finishing second 20 points behind. The Marauders strength lies in their depth and top 5 spread while the strength of Geneva are their top runners up front. Should be a great showdown on November 15 for the runners up podium spot that could also include Indian Rocks or Shorecrest that both show signs of improvement into breaking into the top 3. After that, it is up for grabs as the remaining 10-15 teams are all less than a minute from one another in team averages and anyone could close out the season strong and be a top 10 contender.  Seffner Christian School, Cardinal Mooney, and P.K. Young made the biggest jumps this week and are teams to keep an eye on as the State Series begin in just over a week. Good luck to the Class 1A teams in your quest for a ticket to Tallahassee and the State Meet!

  Team Name, Region (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Holy Trinity Academy, Region 3 (1) An impressive two weeks of racing for the Tigers as they continue to solidify their top ranking with a 3rd place finish at Pre-State (16:18 team average / 0:55 spread) and in winning their own Holy Trinity Fall Classic (16:14 team average / 1:02 spread)
2. Maclay School, Region 1 (2) The Marauders seem to be rounding into shape nicely with a strong performance at Pre-State in the Varsity A division taking the win over The Geneva School with a 17:43 team average and 1:15 top 5 spread followed by a win at the Aucilla Stampede (17:56 / 0:51).
3. The Geneva School, Region 2 (3) In a head to head battle, Geneva finished second to Maclay (138 points to 158 points) at the FSU Pre-State Meet Varsity A race with a faster team average (17:37) but bigger top 5 spread (2:15). The Knights are strong at 1-2 but will need 3-5 to tighten the gap to get to the podium.  Followed up Pre-State at the West Orange Invitational with a 4th place finish and 17:02 team average (*Course seems 15-20 seconds fast).
4. Indian Rocks Christian, Region 3 (4) Won the Clearwater Central Catholic Invitational with 40 points and a team average of 18:40 on a typically slow course. Ran split squads at Disney and Pre-State with results that clearly show they are moving forward ready to contend for a Top 5 showing at State.
5. Shorecrest Prep, Region 3 (5) Finished 4th in the Disney Peter Pan Division with 18:38 team average. Collectively, top 5 returners are well above personal bests from last year, but still anticipate break out performance at any time.
6. Circle Chrisian School, Region 2 (9) Finally caught a race with decent weather conditions at the Amelia Island Pirate Invitational where they finished 5th on a quick course with a 17:52 team average and 2:19 team split. Still searching for improvement at the #5 spot but showing signs of improvement.
7. P.K. Yonge, Region 2 (11) The Blue Wave continues their mid seasoan improvement with an 18:29 team average at FSU Pre-State while finishing 12th in the Varsity A race and  a 18:15 team average at the Bronco Invitational finishing 11th.  Like many, still searching for a solid #5.
8. Melbourne Central Catholic, Region 3 (7) Has run some quick times on some fast (maybe short) courses this season, but their top 5 spread shows great signs of team potential.  Finished 7th at Holy Trinity with a 17:59 / 0:36 team stat.
9. Seffner Christian Academy, Region 3 (13) The Crusaders had a 18:27 team average at Don Bishop Invitational and 18:03 average on the quick Al Lopez Park (15-20 seconds fast) in winning the private school division at the Hillsborough Championship.  This is a team that looks to be getting better each week.
10. Cardinal Mooney, Region 3 (NR) Has burst on to the Rankings with a 19:13 team aveage at FSU Pre-State Varsity B race and an 18:54 team average at the Venice Invitational. Both of these without their 15:55 number 1 guy. A team on the rise to keep an eye on.
11. Father Lopez, Region 2 (10) Finished 5th at Disney just behind Shorecrest averaging 19:05 and then finished 3rd at Mount Dora Bible Invitational with an 19:37 team average on one of the slowest courses in the State.  Solid squad that has yet to run a fast course in October.
12. Pensacola Christian Academy, Region 1 (6) Finished 7th at the West Florida Jaguar Invitational with an 18:58 team average. A tight top 5 spread but will need all to move up together to content for top 7 spot at State.
13. Westminster Academy, Region 4 (8) Ran the Westminster Academy Invitational without 2 of their top five and finished third. Questions loom with this team, but history has shown them to be ready when it counts.
14. Miami Country Day, Region 4 (12) Finished 2nd in the 1A/2A division at the Westminster Academy Invitational and finished 8th in a strong field at the Junior Orange Bowl Invitational with an 18:50 team average on the tough Larry and Penny Course.
15. Westminster Christian, Region 4 (14) Finished 12th at the Junior Orange Bowl Invitational with an 19:14 team average on a slow Larry and Penny Course with a 1:18 top 5 spread.
16. Oak Hall, Region 2 (NR) Has not run incomplete squads in the last few meets, but a strong #1 and a solid tight pack 2-4 and a team average of 18:25 makes them a team to watch.
17. John Carroll HS, Region 4 (15) Team continues to improve with an 18:46 team aveage at Disney and an 18:32 team aveage on the quick Holy Trinity Fall Classic course.
18. Harvest Community School, Region 1 (NR) Finished 6th at the Craig Speziale Invitational with an 18:58 team average and then further improved with a 7th place showing at the Amelia Island Pirate Invitational with an 18:17 team average on a perfect day and fast tract.  Perhaps a team to watch.
19. St. John's Country Day, Region 1 (NR) Ran 18:47 team average at the Bronco Classic
20. Brevard Heat, Region 3 (NR) Team ran to an 18:44 team avereage at Holy Trinity on a fast course.

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: The much anticipated FSU Pre-State Meet matched four of the top five ranked Class 1A athletes and gave us a glimpse of what possibly is to come. Windermere Prep Franco Martins once again proved why he is the man to beat in Class 1A with posting a personal best 15:34 over the Apalachee Regional Park course good enough for 9th place in the Elite Race and a 10 second win over #2 ranked Andrew Cacciatore from Holy Trinity. The big suprise comes in the #3 slot as Cal Davidson Turner turned in a 30 second PR in finishing 27th in 15:55. One of the biggest challenges to the polls this week has been discerning some uber fast race courses and the effects of cooler temperatures which has brought some really fast times and large improvements in some. Whas has been clear though is the rise of some talented underclassman in Noah Perkins of Seffner Christian, Egan Kattenberg,  Michael Wilson and John Cacciatore of Holy Trinity, Ryan Szklany of Highlands Christian, and Jack Pironti of Carrollwood who have moved up in the polls with some impressive races. As our regular season comes to a close, I want to wish the best for all the Class 1A boys teams as they enter the State Series.

Athlete Name, Grade – Team (Prev.)  Time, Comments:
1. Franco Martins, Senior - Windermere Prep (2) With a 9th place finish at the FSU Pre-State Elite race in 15:34 followed up by a 15:20 clocking on the fast West Orange Invitational couse moves Franco back to the #1 spot. He is going to be tough to beat!
2. Andrew Cacciatore, Senior - Holy Trinity (1) One of the most consistent seasons in recent memory, Cacciatore has recorded six sub 16:00 efforts with his person best coming at the FSU Pres-State in 15:44 and the Holy Trinity Classic in 15:38. He is ready!
3. Cal Davidson Turner, Senior - Cardinal Mooney High School. (5) Running a personal best of 15:55 in the Elite race at FSU Pre-State helps the talented Senior jump to the third position as he finishes four places in front of Kattenberg in the race.
4. Trevor Kattenberg, Sophomore - Holy Trinity (3) Two solid performances with a 16:00 clocking at Pre-State and a 16:04 showing at HTA is not enough as the talented Sophomore drops a spot to #4 as he looks to rebound in the State Series and regain a top 3 position.
5. Nicholas Gonzalez, Senior - The Geneva School (4) Ran 16:22 by himself in winning the Varsity A race at Pre-State and then came back the following week to run a 15:57 PR on the fast West Orange Invitational course. A darkhorse who has all the gifts to make a late season charge toward the Top 3.
6. Noah Perkins, Junior - Seffner Christian (9) Ran 16:28 in winning the Don Bishop Invitational and dropped a huge 15:45 at the Hillsborough County Championship. While some question the course length, there is no question this kid is for real looking to break into the top 5.

2A Boys Rankings
By: Bryan Garcia, Tampa Plant HS, bcgfalcons@yahoo.com

Team Rankings:

Commentary: The past couple of weeks has been insane for every classification. 2A is no exception with a stir of changes in the top 10. Pine Crest and Pensacola Catholic swap spots after a crazy FSU Invite. Berkeley and Titusville continue their ways of giant leaps up and down, although it's important to note that Titusville did not have Mason Jones at FSU (elite race). 4 of the 6-10 ranked teams moved up 3 spots or more. It's setting up for a wild November in 2A and the next few weeks will show who will join Trinity Prep on the podium.

  Team Name, Region (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Trinity Prep, Region 2 (1) An incredible 16:21 team average at FSU, TP is cemented at number 1. They even fended off 4 time defending 3A state champs Belen Jesuit for 4th place. This is a special team.
2. Bishop Kenny, Region 1 (2) Won the select race at FSU with a 16:56 average, second only to TP for 2A from all races that weekend. Also go the victory at AIPI this weekend against a good GA Lowndes team.
3. Pine Crest, Region 4 (5) Placed 18th in elite race at FSU (17 flat average). They beat two good 2A programs in McKeel and Pensacola Catholic and are rolling towards a top 3 finish in November.
4. McKeel Academy, Region 3 (4) Just 18 points back of PC at FSU, McKeel had a 17:03 average to place them at 19. This team is easily capable of a top 5 finish and at a smaller state meet, will eye the top 3.
5. Pensacola Catholic, Region 1 (3) Finished 25th in the elite race at FSU (17:26 average). Didn't race their normal top 7 at Fleet Feet. PC and McKeel got them head to head, but this team is still growing.
6. Lake Highland Prep, Region 2 (12) Edging Bolles at FSU select race by 7 points, they had an 18:01 team average placing 21st. They ran at West Orange placing 6th with a 17:18 average putting them in the top 5 hunt.
7. Bolles HS, Region 1 (10) Bolles was just a few points back of LHP at FSU with a 17:58 average. Ran at Bronco Classic placing 4th with a 17:32 average this past weekend.
8. Tampa Jesuit, Region 3 (14) Not to outdue RE, Jesuit ran well at FSU with a 17th place select race finish (17:45 average). They they ran a fast Hillsborough County finishing 6th with 17:03 average.
9. Immokalee HS, Region 3 (9) Difficult to tell where this team belongs. They ran without Velasquez at FSU, then placed 3rd at Lely Invite with 17:41 average. Have a solid 1-2 punch and that is a big boost.
10. Ransom Everglades, Region 4 (15) Making a large jump, RE ran out of their minds to place 2nd to HT at the HTFC. They had a team average of 17:10 holding off Titusville by 6 points. This team has arrived.
11. Titusville HS, Region 4 (4) 24th in select race at FSU (18:15 average), but then came within 6 points of RE this past weekend at HTFC (17:12 average). This team is on or off but when on, they are dangerous.
12. Berkeley Prep, Region 3 (NR) Most up and down team finishing 7th at Disney (18:26 average), then an incredible performance at Hillsborough County with a 7th place finish (17:09 average) one spot behind Jesuit.
13. Nature Coast Tech, Region 2 (11) Placed 3rd two weeks ago at Whispering Pines (18:13 average), then won Weeki Wachee with a 17:42 average this past weekend. This team is one to watch down the stretch.
14. Satellite HS, Region 4 (NR) Had a big win at Clermont Invite two week ago with a 17:33 average and then placed 3rd with a 17:43 this past weekend at HTFC. Have some good momentum going into districts.
15. Bishop Snyder, Region 1 (13) Placed 8th in both FSU varsity A race and Bronco Classic. Had 18:13 average at FSU and 17:48 average this past weekend. They are solid up front and look to finish October strong.

Next Three In - Heading into the postseason, several teams are closing in on the top 15. Any of them could rise or fall as we head towards November and championship season (IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER):
  A. Calvary Christian Academy (Ft. Lauderdale) has a strong argument to make the top 15. With Joel Lacy up at FSU leading 2A with a 15:45, his team was down in Westminster where they picked up a win WITHOUT him. They averaged 18:55 and in the virtual meet they have a 17:48 average with him. This team could easily slip into the top 15 as the postseason starts.
  B. Key West's insertion means inserting the most interesting team on here. They have flown completely under the radar until the past two weeks when they posted a 3rd place finish at FSU in the varsity A race with a 17:54 average and then returned this past weekend to place 4th at the Junior Orange Bowl with an 18:07 average on a slower course. They could find themselves late in the season to finish in the top 15.
  C. Labelle High School should not be off this list as they boast a 20 second split for all of their guys best 5k times of the season. However, they have struggled as of late placing 3rd at Disney where they posted a 17:51 average. Their runner with the fastest time going into that race ran as their 8th man. This team is capable of being a top 10 team if they can put it all together in November.

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: Following an incredible 2 weeks of performances, compiled below is less than a list of the top 25 best runners in 2A and more of a "how much did they PR and what notable people did they beat" list. Joel Lacy has made the case for why he should be considered the front runner (see what I did there?!) for the individual state championship in 3 1/2 weeks with a big 15:45 at FSU. Then there was a succession of 3 other runners who were within 10 seconds of him and who all can compete for the title. Also, Trinity Prep enforces their dominance with 5 runners in the top 25. 6 individuals have broken 16 this year tying that for the most since 2010, although we still have a major portion of the season to go. We haven't seen this kind of competition in 2A in the last 5 years or since the days of Barker, Wallace, and Montoya, or sense I graduated.

Athlete Name, Grade – Team (Prev.)  Time, Comments:
1. Joel Lacy - 11th - Calvary Christian Acad. (4) He had an incredible race at FSU running 15:45 placing 28th in the elite race. He has come a long way thus far and had head to head wins 2A competitors at FSU.
2. Gabriel Correa - 11th - Ransom Everglades  (5) Placed 23rd at FSU in elite race (15:50) as the 2nd 2A runner. Followed that up with a runner-up and 2A best 15:42 at HTFC. Continues to improve every race.
3. Urias Velasquez - 12th - Immokalee HS  (3) Had a great race at FSU finishing 20th (15:47), however he ran 17:10 to place 8th at Lely. Head to head he beat Correa at FSU, but this weekend left some questions.
4. Chas Cook - 11th - Trinity Prep (2) Came off a solid performance at FSU (15:55) for 28th place. Went 16:38 cruising at Wednesday TP meet for the win. He's setting up for a big junior year state meet.
5. Mason Jones - 10th - Titusville HS (1) Coming off a great performance at HTFC (15:47) finishing 3rd, 16:08 at FSU two weeks ago. However, his race this weekend has him in the mix heading into districts.
6. Tyler Skidelsky -12th - Lake Highland Prep (12) 16:11 to win the select race at FSU two weeks ago and followed that up with a 4th place (16:11) finish at West Orange. He dropped 40 seconds in a matter of weeks.
7. Jesse Millson - 12th - Trinity Prep (14) 16:05 two weeks ago at FSU in the elite race. Raced this past week placing 3rd (17:15) behind teammates Mandato and Cook. Should shake out into the top 10.
8. Zach Weaver - 12th - Pasco HS (6) 16:12 in the elite race at FSU two weeks ago placing 42nd. He ran away with (pun intended) Sunshine Athletic Conference title and looks to move up in the top 10.
9. Michael Kennedy - 10th - Pine Crest HS (8) Ran an impressive PR of 16:21 at FSU placing just inside the top 50 in the elite race. It will be interesting to see if the sophomore goes big in November.
10. Trevor Foley - 9th - Nature Coast Tech HS (13) Won Weeki Wachee in 16:21 this past weekend. The freshmen continues to mature with his third win of the season heading into the postseason.
11. Trent Mandato - 10th - Trinity Prep (7) Ran a PR at FSU (16:22 placing 51st) in elite race. He placed 2nd this past week at Wednesday TP meet (17:05). He is the someone to watch out for in November.
12. Nic Jacobsen - 11th - St. Andrews HS (10) Has not raced since flrunners.com Invite. However, he is obviously a perenial state medal contender and easily could rise into the top 5 in the new few weeks.
13. Leonal Ochoa - 10th - Berkeley Prep (NR) Ran 16:06 at a stacked Hillsborough County Championship to place 7th. Say what you will about the course, he upped his game heading into the postseason.
14. Jason Caldwell - 12th - Jesuit HS (16) Just got out kicked by Ochoa for 8th at Hillsborough County in 16:07. Ran 16:34 the week before in FSU select race and is clearly gaining momentum into November.
15. Anderson Bobo - 12th - Lake Highland Prep (NR) Impressed with a 16:40 to place 15th in FSU select race, then backed it up at West Orange with a 16:27 (7th). He has PR'd the past 2 meets going into districts.
16. Austin Camps - 12th - West Shore HS (22) Ran just behind Bobo at FSU (16:42 to place 16th). Ran 16:40 at HTFC this past weekend. He is working his way into the top 15 late in the season.
17. Casey Brady - 12th - McKeel Academy  (19) 16:36 at FSU to place 69th in the elite race. It was a big PR for the senior has we head into the final week of October.
18. Connor Vaughan - 12th - Wolfson HS  (11) Won both of his past two meets (16:45 at Mandarin Invite and 16:39 at Gateway Conference). He won both meets, but has not gone sub 16:30 since September.
19. Bo Cherry - 12th - Trinity Prep (NR) 16:38 at both FSU and West Orange. Seemed like he tempoed Wednesday TP meet, then worked this weekend. 16:38 is almost a minute PR for the rising senior.
20. Mason Gerry - 11th - Bishop Kenny (25) Lost to teammate Ossi at FSU by a second (16:39 in select race), then edged him out this past weekend at AIPI (16:55 for 5th). Junior is looking good late in the year.
21. Husam Ossi - 12th - Bishop Kenny  (NR) Out kicked Gerry at FSU finishing in the top 15 in select race. Came back this weekend with a 6th place 16:55 finish. Senior looks to close out November in top 20.
22. Alejandro Ruiz - 11th - Immokalee HS (9) Ran 16:47 in varsity A race at FSU placing 4th two weekends ago and followed that up with 17:00 at Lely good enough for 3rd. Beat Velasquez last outing.
23. James Gehret - 12th - Bishop Snyder (NR) He placed 5th in the 1600 at states in the spring (4:27). Placed 7th (16:58) in varsity A FSU meet followed by 11th place (16:39) at Bronco Classic.
24. Sydney Perry - 11th - Satellite HS  (NR) Won the Clermont Classic in 16:42. He followed up his first win with a top 15 placing at HTFC. He's looking to make some waves in the top 20 before the seasons end.
25. Aaron Goldstein - 11th - Trinity Prep (NR) 16:43 at FSU Invite elite race. The junior once again hops in the last spot and rounds out a Trinity Prep team that he can add too with a top 25 finish in November

  Notable Names Left Off:
Unfortunately or fortunately, however you look at it, several athletes who are running great were left off simply because the times and talent have exceeded the past couple of weeks. Most notably, Vasilis Vasiloudes and Charlie Gonzmart from Hillsborough County posting 16:43 and 16:44 at Hillsborough County Championships.
Also being left off because they have too many guys in the top 25 as it is, Preston Copenhaver from Trinity Prep made some noise at FSU with a 16:47, a huge PR and his first time breaking 17 minutes. Copenhaver was quickly followed by Duncan Lippincott, Everett Wagner, Ryan Welch, Patrick Salas, and Beau Butler who all posted season bests and broke 17 minutes.

3A Boys Rankings
By: Ryan Lowe, Lake Nona HS, ryan.lowe@ocps.net

Team Rankings:

Commentary: Now things are getting exciting!  Two points separated Chiles and Leon at FSU and don't think that the defending champions from Belen won't be in the mix on November 15.  As teams are getting ready for their conference and district meets, I want to wish all of them the best.

  Team Name, Region (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Chiles, R1 (2) 3 guys under 16 but the key was the 5th runner lowering his time by 20 seconds.
2. Leon, R1 (2) The rest of the team is trending up which they will need next month.
3. Belen, R4 (1) Rodriguez ran well at FSU but the rest of the team will need to improve to get back on top.
4. Ft. Myers, R3 (5) Good times when the competition was fierce; 16:32 team average.
5. Creekside, R1 (4) Did not run at FSU but still deserving of top-5 ranking.
6. Bartram Trail, R1 (6) Did not run at FSU;
7. Fort Walton Beach, R1 (10) 5th place 3A team at FSU with 16:39 team average.
8. Sarasota, R3 (9) Lower team average than FWB at FSU (16:36) thanks in part to 1-2 runners.
9. Melbourne, R3 (NR) They continue to move in and out of the rankings; Camps helps the team score.
10. Pembroke Pines Charter, R4 (8) 16:46 team average at FSU
11. Ocala Vanguard, R2 (7) Did not run at FSU
12. Estero, R3 (12) 17:06 team average at FSU
13. Liberty, R2 (11) Team ran at Disney and won their division then followed it up with a win at a very fast West Orange course.
14. Pace, R1 (13) The unfortunate thing for Pace is that they are in region 1 and will need to fight to get out.
15. Robinson, R3 (14)

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: We finally had good weather and a nice course (no mud) and the times reflected the conditions at FSU.  A total of 13 guys ran below 16 in just one race and that brings the total number of sub-16 runners in 3A to 17 for the season.  The post-season is going to be interesting as everybody is chasing Sukhi.

Athlete Name, Grade – Team (Prev.)  Time, Comments:
1. Sukhi Khosla, 12 - Leon (1) Until he gets beat, Sukhi will continue to lead this poll.
2. Steven Cross, 11 - Merritt Island (3) Him and Ryan keep trading places as they try and catch first.
3. Ryan Rodriguez, 12 - Belen (2) 15:23 @ FSU
4. Adam Bradtmueller, 11 - Sarasota (7) 15:26 @ FSU
5. Avery Bartlett, 12 - Chiles (8) continues to move up this list.
6. Dean McGregor, 12 - Ft. Myers (4) 15:40 @ FSU
7. David Cash Tampa, 12 - Creekside (5) Did not run @ FSU but . . .
8. Hunter Scott, 12 - Leon (NR) He is making his teammates believe they can win the title.
9. Allan Hernandez, 12 - Chiles (15) As he continues to lower his time, his team believes they can win.
10. Tyson Murray, 12 - Chiles (14) Him and Allan are giving Chiles what they need.
11. Garrett Camps, 12 - Melbourne (9) 15:46 @ FSU
12. Ryan Aponte, 12 - St. Augustine (10) 15:49 @ FSU
13. Zack Summerall, 12 - Sarasota (6) 15:54 @ FSU
14. Joey Fitzpatrick, 9 - Ocala Vanguard (12) Did not run @ FSU but . . .
15. Carlos Penaranda, 12 - Pembroke Pines (NR) 15:58 @ FSU
