In His Own Words: Nic Jacobsen - Finding A Rhythm

Hey flrunners,  sorry it has been a while since my last post, but that is not to say that little has been going on. The middle portion of my season has been a little rocky to say the least. Heading into  the flrunners.com Invitational back at the start of the month, I got sick and really wasn't able to shake it off fully for about two weeks. Regardless, I still should have ran better than how I did in that race, but I was just never able to find a rhythm.

During that time I was also preparing for Homecoming Week with student council and stayed at school most nights until 9 or 10 at night. Fast forward to the 23rd at my county championships and mediocre is the only word that comes to mind when describing the sensation I felt that day. The team, however, was able to put to put together a great result with our number 2,3, and 4 runners all running between 18:00 and 18:25. Now that homecoming has past, the second marking period has started, and I can consistently run workouts again, I am pretty excited moving into the championship part of the season.

For districts, the team wants to win and I would like to run fairly conservative. Regionals is a big highlight for all of the guys. We feel like if we have a perfect day and things finally start coming together that we have a chance to go to states. Looking at Region 4 for 2A, probably 3-4 of the top 6-7 individuals in the state will be present. I'm looking forward the the challenge as a sort of "dress-rehearsal" for states. Right now, my thoughts are on the state meet in Tallahassee and I am just looking to get my confidence back to feel like I should be at the front of that race. After 2nd place in the 3200 in track last year, I know that if i am feeling "on" I should be able to hang with just about anyone in 2A.

Best of luck to everyone this week!
