On-Site Coverage

Friday night was buzzing in Jacksonville with over 50 teams making the trek to Bolles for the annual Bulldog Classic. Despite the cold weather and misty conditions, there were some notable performances across the board.

On the boys side, Chiles dominated the meet, led by Avery Bartlett with a fantastic triple in the 1600, 800, and 4x4. Bartlett won both the 1600 and 800 in very fast times of 4:21 and 1:56 respectively, and ran a solid leg on Chiles 3rd place 4x4 relay team. Another notable triple came from Vanguard Freshman Joey Fitzpatrick. The freshman was 2nd in the 1600 in 4:21 and 9th in the 3200 in 9:40. The freshman also ran a 1:59 split on Vanguards 4th place relay team. The Creekside Boys also had a strong showing in the 4x8 running an early 8:07 to win over a strong field. However the performance of the night went to Leon Senior Sukhi Khosla. Khosla opened his 2015 track season with a US #1 9:09 in the 3200 to win by 15 seconds over a stacked field.

On the girls side we also saw some strong performances, mostly on the distance side as well. Winter Park freshman Rafaella Gibbons won the girls 1600 in 5:11 leading 11 girls under 5:20. Kayley Delay doubled back after a 5:12 1600 to win the girls 3200 in 11:07 over Bolles star Mackenzie Wilson. Defending 2A State Champion Caitlyn Collier of Bolles was in action in the 800m taking the win in 2:17. Other notable performances came from Nicole Greene of Ponte Vedra who won both the High Jump and the Long Jump with impressive jumps of 5'8" and 18'8".Despite the poor weather, many athletes still brought their A game to set the bar for what promises to be a fantastic track season. Once the weather heats up we are sure to see some special performances down the road.
