LEARN MORE ABOUT THE NOMINEES:

Carlos Becker (Senior, Osceola) - The FSU football signee and two sport standout dropped the fastest 110mH in the state this year, a wind-aided (3.3m/s) 14.18. Becker, also had the second best triple jump of the week (46'10"), and high jumped 6'2" to earn MVP honors at the Kowboy Invitational.

Eron Carter (Senior, Palatka) - Like Becker, Carter is another two-sport standout. A Virginia Tech football signee, Carter has improved his discus throws almost every week and at the Lake Highland Track & Field Elite Classic launched the implement a state leading 182'0". The mark is a new personal best by nearly 9 feet and ranks as the 14th best throw in the country. Carter told me he has his eyes set on 200"0' before the season is over.

Braxton Canady (Senior, Paxon School For Advanced Studies) - Canady is one of four athletes in our poll that were competing indoors this weekend. The Paxon School senior who was 5th last year in the 55m hurdles finished as the runner-up in 2016 with a time of 7.66s behind Grant Holloway who set a national record in the event.

Tyrese Cooper (Freshman, American) - Tyrese Cooper has had high expectations follow him wherever he goes and New Balance Nationals was no exception even with a loaded field. Cooper ran the 100,200, 400 and 4x400 at the GMAC North Qualifiers on Wednesday and then headed to New York where he competed in the 60m dash and 200m dash. The freshman was 4th in the 60 (6.80s) and was runner-up in the 200m, but later DQ'ed after the race for a lane violation. His prelim time of 21.22 in the 200m dash set a new freshman national record.

Seneca Milledge (Freshman, Dunbar) - Milledge was also running indoor track this weekend, but at the USATF Hershey's National Youth Indoor Track and Field Championships in Staten Island, New York. The Dunbar freshman won both the 55 and 200m dash in the 15-16 year old age group clocking times of 6.34s and 21.72s.

Chase Rivera (Freshman, Bolles) - Bolles freshman Chase Rivera picked a perfect time to run the fastest mile of his career. In his second indoor contest ever, Rivera who was 17th at the 2A Cross Country Finals this fall for the Bulldogs, tore up the oval with a 60.2s last 400m to win the boys freshman mile at New Balance Nationals. His time of 4:19.94 is the fastest by any class of 2019 runner this indoor season!

Chauncy Smart (Junior, Auburndale) - Chauncy Smart makes the list for yet another week, but all he does is drop his times. At the Kowboy Invitational, Smart went head to head again with Alvin Bryant and what did he do? Blew away the field and clocked a state leading and US#5 (tie) all-conditions time of 10.42w.

Allen Wiggins (Senior, The First Academy) - Wiggins hurled the shot put over 56 feet for the third time this season with a new state leading and personal best mark of 56'10.5" to win the Kowboy Invitational.
