Salute To Seniors: Kali Clemmer - Bloomingdale High School

The 2015-2016 school year has provided some great highlights in both cross country and track across the Sunshine State. In the coming weeks many of our seniors will head out to start their college careers both athletically and academically. We wanted to salute them one more time in this special feature and say thank you for your support over the years.

Flrunners.com: What was your most memorable race/moment?

Kali Clemmer: My most memorable race moment would have to be during my sophomore year, when I won districts because it really made me realize how far I've come.

FLR: Who would you consider your biggest competition over the last four years?

KC: My biggest competition would have to be Newsome, just because they are Bloomingdale's rivals in every sport and they always have a fantastic group of runners.

FLR: What was your greatest accomplishment?

KC: My greatest accomplishment would definitely have to be completing all 4 years without injuries.

FLR: If you could do it all again what would you change about running in high school?

KC: If I got to do it all over again, I would push myself to run more on weekends, and to realize that you have to train on your own in addition to practice.

FLR: What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

KC: The most difficult obstacle I had to overcome was myself. I always thought if I don't PR then I'm not improving but really, running is much of a mental sport as it is a physical sport.

FLR: What will you miss the most?

KC: I'm going to miss my team the most, they are truly my best friends and I don't know what I'm going to do without them training right by my side every day.

FLR: What advice you would give to younger athletes?

KC: To younger athletes, I would say to keep up with your training schedule and don't skip practice. Your coach really does know you best and don't over train.

FLR: What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

KC: My coaches are the ones I give credit to when it comes to my performance, without them I probably wouldn't be running. They made me into the runner and person I am today.

FLR: What are your college plans?

KC: For college, I am attending Mars Hill University in North Carolina and I will be running cross country and track there.

FLR: Who would you like to say thank you to?

KC: I would like to thank my coaches for creating a runner out of me and my parents for forcing me to join cross country freshman year. Also, my teammates for pushing me, making practice a good time, and run faster at races, and always getting the best out of me.

FLR: Is there anything else you'd like to add?

KC: I would like to add that it has been a fantastic four years and I hope everyone gets a chance to be a part of something great like the sport of running at some time or another.
