Miami Northwestern ran away with the title to claim it's second in a row. This time, it was an 80-43 victory of Northeast. In all the Bulls have collected two titles in the past three years and eight in school history.

NW had only 4 points on the first day from Winston Quinn who finished fifth in the 800 meter run (1:54.74), but piled them on on the second day to pull away easily from the pack of teams. Junior Jacquez Stuart picked up a win in the 100 meters (10.53) and a runner up in the 200 meters (21.11).

Senior Thomas Burns won the 400 meter dash (46.72) and a runner up in the 110 meter hurdles (14.02).The Bulls swept the sprint relays winning the 4 x 100 meter relay (41.59) and the 4 x 400 meter relay (3:14.49). Northwestern was surprised by Vanguard in the 4 x 800 meter relay who won in 7:47.62(1:57, 1:57, 1:54, 1:57). Thomas Burns said in an interview afterwards that he was supposed to get the lead, but the Vanguard lead off leg surprised him and gave him more of challenge than he expected. After I commented that he seemed like a better anchor leg because he chases people down well, he said he preferred to chase people down, but he was on the lead off.

NW didn't pick up any points in the field or jumps, but were helped by Torry Holmes' sixth place finish in the 110 meter hurdles (14.35), Michael Thompson's fifth place finish in the 400 meter dash (48.86), and Marcus Flemings' fourth place finish in the 200 meter dash (21.48).

Niceville's Nick Morken was second in a time of 4:07.95 Hugh Brittenham's second place time of 4:09.38 would have won 45 of 47 past 1600m/mile 3A championships. In the boys 4 x 800 meter relay, Phillips go the baton with 5:59-6:00 showing on the clock. He quickly made up a lot of ground hitting the penultimate lap in 6:53!! So he was 53 high or 54 low. He faded a bit towards the end finishing in 7:55.53 or 1:55 or 1:56
