Friday's invitational 1600m at the Pepsi Florida Relays was a fight to the finish.
Going through the start: Georgia's Jalen Murray, Hugh Brittenham, Angel Vicioso, and Ben Hartvigsen were your top four leaders through the half going through at 2:06 in a 1:06 second lap.
Behind the leaders was Rheinhardt Harrison, the Nease Freshman and AAU eighth grade champion. Heading into the final lap New Smyrna Beach senior, Aidan O'Gorman, made a move to get up with the front pack and Brittenham took off at the line, knowing he needed to secure a lead in order to win.
Vicioso attempts to go with him and Buchholz senior Caden Monk and Harrison make a huge move at the 150m mark with eyes on Brittenham.
As they come down the final stretch it's the Nease Freshman out in lane three that poses as a threat to Brittenham's coveted win. As Brittenham sees Harrison coming, he leans forward to secure the win on his future home track with a time of 4:12.52.
Harrison fell at the line seven-hundredths of a second behind Brittenham with Monk in third with a time of 4:13.91. 
Harrison raced to win with an incredibly 58 second quarter to close the four lap race. As a result of his hard effort, his 4:12.59 is the fastest 1600m time produced by a Florida Freshman in history. Not only did he make history in Florida, but he is also the current national leader amongst the class of 2022 by over 10 seconds in the event!
