After stellar 200m and 400m state championship wins at the FHSAA 3A State Championship, Jan'Taijah Ford, had a stellar performance this weekend in the 100m and 200m races at the Flo Golden South Classic.
The Northeast senior and USC signee, won both the 100m and 200m in wind legal times of 11.68 and 23.38.
Ford normally focuses on the 200m and 400m and she looked very strong down the homestretch racing the 100m for the first time this season. Her 11.68 is a Florida top 10 time this season.
After racing the 100m prelim, the 200m prelim, and then the 100m finals, Ford came back shortly after and dominated the 200m Classic race.
Destiny Charles was not going to let Ford go with out a fight and pushed the pace coming off the turn. As the field came down the home stretch, it was Ford who took the lead winning the race in a smoking post-season time of 23.38, Destiny Charles right behind in 23.91, and Rayniah Jones in 24.06.
Charles came off a stellar 200m state championship win at the FHSAA 2A State championship where she ran 23.91 at Hodges stadium. She has had a dominating season on the east coast winning her Cape Coast Conference title in the 200m.
Rayniah Jones, normally a hurdle specialist for Miami Southridge and future UCF knight, came off a 100mH state championship win at the FHSAA 4A State Championship and decided to try her hand at the 100m and 200m dash at Flo Golden South for the first time this season. Jones finished very strong, finishing third in both events in two personal records of 11.83 and a 23.97 in prelims.
