Ponte Vedra's 1:53 800m Star Kyle Reinheimer Picks UNC

UNC Chapel Hill will pick up Ponte Vedra's Kyle Reinheimer come 2020.

As one of the top incoming 800m stars of this 2020 outdoor season, Reinheimer will be one to watch for not only on the state level, but the national one as well.

With a 1:53 800m PR, the future Tar Heel, has some big goals this upcoming track season. He was fourth at last year's 3A 800m state final and is coming back hungrier than ever.

His strong 800m performances are paired with equally strong 1600m runs -- including a 4:23 sixth place finish at the Florida Relays last year. He was just one second shy of that PR with his seventh place finish in the event at the state finals in a smoking time of 4:24 to follow up his 800m double the day prior.

The Ponte Vedra senior has only been running for a recorded two seasons so far, going into his third and final high school track season in just a few short months. What's more impressive, is the improvements that he has made YOY in just a short time.

Reinheimer kicked off his track career with a 2:07 800m performance. A year later he was running sub 1:57 consistently. As his speed improved in the 800m, as did his endurance in the 1600m -- going from 4:55 down to 4:23 the next season.

The Tar Heels picked up a strong middle distance athlete and Reinheimer is not done yet on the high school scene, keep your eyes out for him come outdoor.
