Winter Park Girls, Windermere Boys Capture 4A Region 3 Title

It was a close team finish for the top two girls teams at the FHSAA 4A Region 3 meet.

Timber Creek standout sophomore, Amber Schulz, took the individual title in a time of 18:22 over University of Florida commit, Rylee Pustilnik's 18:56.

Winter Park junior, Emma Noel, took third with a consistent 19:19. Schulz win was thought to be enough for the Timber Creek squad to secure the overall team title

It was Winter Park freshman, Julia Reitz, that brought home the team title for the Wildcats over the Wolves. Reitz ran the race of her season, running a huge PR of 20:36 -- an impressive feat when you look at where she started her first race of the season at 23:51.

Both Timber Creek and Winter Park scored 81 points, but it came down to a tie breaker and Reitz finish helped seal the deal.

Spanish River, Jupiter, Dr. Phillips, Windermere, Boone, and Viera all join Timber Creek and Winter Park at the state championship this weekend.

On the boys side, Zachary Cloud, took the individual title in a time of 15:37 over Jupiter junior, Joe Wester

Onix Ortiz brought it home in third to help led his Windermere team to a regional title with 83 points over Dr. Phillips' 113. Ortiz cruised through the finish line in a time of 16:01. He's coming off a 15:46 PR at the state meet and the Windermere boys seem to be saving up their efforts for the state meet this week.

Viera, Spanish River, St. Cloud, Tohopekaliga, Timber Creek, and Olympia will join Windermere and Dr. Phillips at the state meet, qualifying their top seven boys to the big dance.
