Justin Wilson Lone Florida Boy to Qualify For XC Nationals

Satellite sophomore, Justin Wilson, punched his ticket to Oregon for NXN next week to become the only Florida boy this season to qualify for a national level meet.

Wilson, who finished second at the 2A state championship earlier this month, finished sixth overall at the Nike Cross Nationals Southeast Regional in a huge PR of 15:11 to rise from the rankings to a Florida no. 2 time this season.

Not only was Wilson the fastest Floridian of the weekend at NXRSE, but he was the fastest by an incredible margin from any Florida boy this weekend -- NXR and Foot Locker South combined.

Wilson has had a strong season as half of Satellite's strong distance duo along with Gabe Montague. After finishing second at the state meet, he was hungry for more for the Scorpions at Nike Regionals.

Satellite and Belen finished fifth and sixth overall as a team at NXRSE -- Satellite with a 15:57 average and Belen with a 16:04. Montague was second for the Scorpions with a time of 15:57 and Diego Gomez led the Belen squad with a time of 15:50 on the WakeMed course. After two state championship wins and continuing their season longer than most, these two teams fought hard with the weather conditions up in Cary.
