This weekend was full of elite indoor and outdoor performances from our Florida high school and middle schoolers. Our high schoolers competed out of state at both the Mondo Elite Invitational in North Carolina and the Music City Indoor Invitational in Tennessee.

Two top US performances came from Florida athletes at both meets. In Tennessee, First Academy senior, Alex Shields, dominated his first ever indoor pentathlon winning the meet and setting a new meet record with 3571 points with victories in the shot put, long jump, and 60m hurdles. His performance earned him a US No. 3 indoor pentathlon ranking so far this season. He will continue to be a key component to First Academy's state championship squad as they make an effort to bring home their third consecutive team state title.

While Shields was crushing the multi-event game in Tennessee, Dunbar's Leonard Mustari showed that he is going to be a force to be reckoned with this season. Mustari earned himself a US No. 4 60m hurdle time of 7.89 and US No. 2 55m hurdle time of 7.32 at the Mondo Elite HS Invitational. The junior will be making a big name for himself this season after finishing third in the 110m hurdles at last year's 2A state meet.
