Throwback Thursday: Anthony Schwartz Runs 7th All-Time 200m

The 2018 Sam Burley Hall of Fame Invitational was a meet for Anthony Schwartz to remember in his high school career. He not only ran a personal best in 200m, but tied the seventh fastest all-time in the event.

With his yellow uniform in lane six, he blasted out of the blocks and stayed in his drive phase for almost 50m. He commanded the lead when he came off the turn ahead of Miami Norland HS (FL)'s Tyrese Cooper, who was trying to run with him from lane four. Schwartz's speed and strength were too powerful for the rest of the field to respond to.The American Heritage MS/HS (Plantation) (FL) graduate won the race with a 20.47 (1.3). At this meet, he also ran a 10.13 (2.1) for the win in the 100m.

Later that summer in Tampere, Finland, Schwartz earned the silver medal at the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships in the 100m with a 10.22. He also won the 2017 New Balance Nationals Outdoor in the 100m in 10.27. He won four state titles in 2018 and 2016 for both the 100m and 200m. He now attends Auburn University, where he is a star wide receiver on the football team.
