Today we salute Miami Northwestern senior, Stephanie Jobe

What was your most memorable race/throw/jump/vault/moment?

My most memorable jump moment would be at Gmac Qualifiers when I jumped 38.3 feet to be placed #3 in Fl and #33 in the U.S.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

My biggest competition over the four years would have to be Jada Joseph from American Heritage. We met last year, we would always compete in long jump and triple jump. Jada has been my toughest competition and she also been my biggest motivation this year. I can say that I am thankful for having the opportunity to be able to compete against such an amazing athlete.

    What was your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment would have to be that every single meet I competed in I pr'd in each of my events.

Who would you consider your biggest role model over your four years competing?

My biggest role model over the last four years of competing would have to be Coach Carmen Jackson. I can say that she is more like a mother to me, she plays a huge role in my life. She has helped me with more than just athletics. Coach Carmen molded me into the amazing student/ athlete I am today. I am grateful to her.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running or field career in high school?

I would change my first three years of my high school track and field career. I was not serious about track, I took it as a joke knowing I had the potential to be the best. I was blessed with many talents that others do not have and I wished I would have showcased them earlier in my career.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome? How did you overcome them?

The most difficult obstacle I had to overcome was myself. I didn't have a winners mindset, because of this I wasn't able to reach my full potential. I overcame them by focusing and listening to my coaches. I can say that I learned from my mistakes and my mindset has improved tremendously, I'm just upset that I couldn't finish what I started.

What will you miss the most?

I will miss the track team the most. We are family. I have had my best memories with them. We supported each other in everything we did and we always had each other's back.

What advice would you give to younger athletes?

Advice that I would give to younger athletes would be to work hard everyday and take nothing for granted. You never know when it will be your last time competing.

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

All of my coaches has had huge influences on my performance and life goals. I learned something from each and every one of them.

What are your post-high school or college plans?

I plan on attending college and compete on a Collegiate level post high-school.

Who would you like to say 'thank you' to?

I would like to say thank you to my auntie Barbara. She was the woman who made this all possible for me. Rest In Peace to her. Also I would like to thank my Siblings, Coaches, and Teachers for molding me into the young woman I am today. I would like to give a special thanks to Coach shane, I don't know where I would be without her. She was very generous to me and has helped me countless of times.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

I've came a long way and I will not let anything stop me from being Great! I will be successful not immediately but definitely.
