Anderson Ball, of Nease HS, enters the official 2020 season with the fastest 5k time of the pre-season with his 15:33 win at the Cecil Field Summer Classic back on Aug. 21.
Florida's cross country pre-season was slightly longer this year with the official start of the regular season delayed until Sept. 4.
One thing is for sure, after an abrupt end to the outdoor season, athletes are ready to race and their performances this August are indicative of long base builds that will make for a very interesting fall competition scene.
Teams will have until Sept. 18 to either opt in or opt out of the FHSAA state series, till then everything is up in the air when it comes to redistricting and predicting the outcome for the 2020 championship season.
Although we are heading into a season of unknowns, take a look at the elite performances from this August run by Florida distance athletes.
