Alumni Report: Mountain Dew Invite Features Florida Greats

The Mountain Dew Invitational featured many Florida greats this past weekend. 

On the men's side, Lake Wales alumnus, Paul Stafford, and Mount Dora Christian alumnus, Gabriel Curtis, took first and second for Florida State with their 24:44 and 24:51 8k performances. Ethan Geiger made his debut for the Gators, finishing third in 25:08. 

Not only did Florida alumni take the first three places in the men's 8k, but also four other places in the top ten. Caleb Pottorff formerly with Lincoln Park Academy finished fifth for the Noles in 25:15 with his freshman teammate and former Lake Wales standout, Anderson Denton in seventh in 25:17. Oviedo alumnus and former UConn athlete, Angel Vicioso made his debut for the Gators finishing eighth in 25:20 with Humberto Freire representing Christopher Columbus alumni finishing ninth for the Noles in 25:24. 

On the women's side Villages alumna, Rebecca Clark, was the first Flo-grown finisher with a second place 20:57 6k performance. FSU teammate and Mosley alumna, Ella Swigler took sixth with a 21:16 Ponte Vedra HS alumna and Georgia Tech athlete, Clair Mortiz helped lead her team to a team win with her eighth place 21:30 and Alyson Churchill and Caitlin Wilkey made their FSU debuts with top 10 finishes finishing ninth and tenth in 21:36 and 21:39.
