Ball, Thomas Kickoff Florida State's 2021 Recruiting Class


Last week to of Florida's top distance recruits announced their verbal commitment to the Florida State University cross country and track programs.

Nease senior Anderson Ball and HB Plant senior Wynne Thomas took to social media to announce the news. 


Their commitment news came right after two huge PR's for the 3200m distance at the Set Goals Not Limits October distance track meet two weeks ago. Ball ran a time of 9:14.02 with Thomas following right behind in 9:16.79. 

Thomas and Ball are the No. 6 and No. 7 ranked Florida distance recruits for the class of 2021 with their 15:31 and 15:33 2020 season bests so far this season for the 5k distance. 

Ball is the reigning 4A state runner-up with his 15:34 performance last season at Apalachee Regional Park. In addition to his 9:14 3200m PR, the future Nole holds a personal best of 4:24 for the 1600m and 2:05 for the 800m.

Thomas has had a breakout season in his senior campaign, his new 3200m and 5k PR's paving the way for a spot on the Seminole squad. In addition to his 9:16, the Plant senior holds a 2:03 800m and 4:31 1600m PRs. This November, he will be racing for a top individual placing spot in class 4A. 


Wynne Thomas Post 3200m PR 

Ball and Thomas kickoff Florida State's recruiting class for the 2020-2021 season. They will join former Florida high school stars: Paul Stafford, Gabe Cutis, Humberto Freire, Anderson Denton, Caleb Pottorff, Conor Philips, Jay Brown, Matthew Newland, and Zach Cloud.
