The UAB Blazer Classic featured a multitude of fast Floridians this past weekend.
On the women's side, Fort Myers alumna and current University of Arkansas Razorback Krissy Gear was the top Florida finisher. Gear finished 12th overall with a time of 20:34 for the 6k distance, to finish fifth for the nationally ranked Razorback squad and lead them to a 42 point win with an 11 second 1-5 split! Ponte Vedra alumna and Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket, Claire Moritz joined Gear as the only other Floridian to go sub-21 minutes for the 6k. Her 23rd 20:58 finish was a season best for the college junior.
On the men's side, Florida state duo Paul Stafford and Gabe Curtis continue to dominate the collegiate scene. Stafford took fifth overall with a time of 23:30 -- a performance that earned him ACC performer of the week. Following right along, Gabe Curtis finished second for the FSU Noles and 13th overall with a time of 23:55 to help lead the FSU men to a third place team finish.
When it comes to Florida schools at the UAB classic, the FSU men and women both earned third place finishes with the University of Florida men and women taking ninth and sixth.
