Isaac Carney (IMG Academy) - Boys 800m
After being a 2:02 half-miler in Oklahoma last outdoor season (2020), Isaac Carney has made a huge transition and improvement since arriving at his new home at the boarding school of IMG Academy in Bradenton. Carney ran a huge personal best time of 1:53.88 racing against post-collegiates at the Pure Athletics Sprint Meet on May 2nd at the National Training Center. Before that race, Carney was consistently running under two minutes including two 1:57 efforts but nothing close to that breakthrough performance in Clermont.
He will get another opportunity on Friday night to prove that performance was not a fluke as the top seed in the boys 800 field which will have a half dozen others in the race with sub 2-minute credentials to push him.
