Timber Creek Girls 10 Clay Loop Run

Tags: Interview

Workout video with the Timber Creek girls cross country team (and Harmony's Alanie Rivera joining them) on a long run at the 10 Mile Clay Loop in Clermont, Florida. The Timber Creek girls are expected to be one of the top returning cross country teams in the fall for the 4A classification led by defending individual state champ Amber Schulz.

Their squad is deep beyond Schulz though with several girls already proven or capable of sub 20 minute 5K performances including Vivian Byrnes, Brenda Grez, Hannah Kacer, Keelynn Barrier, and Carly Holadia to put them six deep with many of the other top programs in the state this upcoming season. Both Byrnes (19:45 5K PR) and Grez (19:57 5K PR) have run under 20 minutes in prior seasons, while Kacer is coming off running sub 5:30 for 1600 meters and Holadia dropped her 800-meter time to 2:23 this past spring.

The Lady Wolves finished fourth in the FHSAA 4A State Cross Country Finals last November with their team qualifying out of the district and regional championships without their top runner Amber Schulz who missed those races due to injury. She is working herself back into shape (not present for today's long run) after missing the track season (see our interview with Schulz back in May on her comeback) and is training for the upcoming season.

Their squad is coached by Julie Halsey and Oscar Salazar with also potential to be the top team in the Metro East Conference Championships this season as well as being the defending meet champions.
