Richmond Nominated for 2009 Homecoming Queen

- University of South Florida senior track and field athlete Kayla Richmond is one of four nominees for the 2009 Homecoming Queen.

A three-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team, Richmond qualified and ran at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships last season, finishing 19th in the 400-meter hurdles. The Fort Myers native also ran the 400, 500 and 600 meters during the indoor season.

Students can vote for both the homecoming king and queen here.

Voting will continue through Tuesday, Nov. 17 at midnight, with the winner announced Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Homecoming Ball in the Marshall Center Ballroom.

USF will host a week full of events leading up to the homecoming football game against Louisville Nov. 21 at noon at Raymond James Stadium.

The kickoff ceremony will be held Monday at noon at the Marshall Center with the cake cutting ceremony, the passing of the other team's mascot and speeches from USF dignitaries.

After auditions on Monday, USF's Next Great Star Talent Show will take place Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Marshall Center Oval Theater.

Following Wednesday's ceremony, USF will host a carnival Thursday from 6 p.m. - midnight at The Meadows at the corner of N 50th and USF Holly Drive.

The 2009 Homecoming Parade will begin Friday at 7 p.m. and will be followed by the After Party at The Meadows. View the complete parade route here as well as the week's activities here.
