The Florida High School Indoor Championships were full of thrills and surprises. The Florida athletes gave some fantastic performances as we head into the outdoor season. Here are just a few of the highlights from Saturday's competition.
BOYS
Cardinal Newman junior Zamarii Sanders had his season opener in the 60m. Sanders won in 6.71, which tied him at US #8.
Kai Martin of the Cambridge (Christian) School soloed a FL #1, FL #2 indoor all-time, and a current US #3, 1:51.05 800m. Martin also leads the state rankings in the mile with a 4:12.65.
Jabari Armstrong, running for the VAST Track and Field Club, continued his winning ways, taking the 60mH in a state-leading 7.81. His time puts him at #4 on the Florida all-time indoor 60mH list and is currently tied at US #6.
Senior Darius Jones II of Rickards moved to the top of the state rankings in the high jump with a jump of 1.97m (6-05.50.)
GIRLS
Alyson Johnson pulled up in the 3,000m but returned in the 1-mile to win in a state-leading 4:51.42. Her time is an all-time Florida #2 indoor behind Caroline Lehman of the Cambridge (Christian) School's 4:50.42 from 2022.



Klyie Neira of DeLand, vaulting with the Thin Air Vault Club, won the Pole Vault with a state-leading 4.01m (13-01.75). She is the current 2X 4A FHSAA state champion. Her vault was an indoor/outdoor PR for Neira, an all-time indoor vault for a Florida girl, and tied her as FL #3 outdoors all-time.
Emma Negril of IMG won the weight throw with a toss of 16.47m (54-00.50). Her throw was a FL #3 all-time.
