Senior Mackenzie Roy of Spruce Creek made a statement in the 4A District 2 girls' 3200 with a Florida all-time No. 4 10:15.77 3200m. After her 4:57.61 warm-up win in the 1600m, she took the lead from the start with an opening 1:12.49 and did not look back as she averaged 1:16.49 for her eight laps, closing with a 1:12.45 final 400m. The Auburn commit jumped ahead of Caroline Lehman of Cambridge (Christian) School in the all-time rankings, moving her into some very elite company. The all-time Florida Girls 3200m record is held by Caroline Wells of Winter Springs HS, who ran a 10:08.77 in 2021.
Roy's win sets up an anticipated showdown with junior Alyson Johnson of Creekside HS, the two-time defending 1600 and 3200m 4A State champion, at the 4A1 Regional on May 3rd at Sanford Seminole. Roy was second to Johnson, a Colorado commit, in the 1600m and 3200m at State last year.
