Highlights of the FHSAA 1A State Championship

The 1A boys and girls races had some great performances by the girls and the boys despite the rain delays. Here are a few of the highlights from Friday's and Saturday's races.

The boy's 1A 3200m went to Holy Trinity junior Evan Spreitzer.  Speitzer set the pace for the first 1600m. Indian Rock's senior Blake Young took the lead with Spreitzer and Cambridge (Christian) School junior Mark Meister in tow until the last 400. With 300 to go, Spreitzer took the lead and finished in 9:09.4. Meister was second in 9:12.74 and Young third in 9:16.48.

In the 1A boys 4x800m, the team from Holy Trinity took the lead early and dominated the race, running a 7:48.24.



Justin Woulard of Melbourne Central Catholic won the 100m, the 200m, and the Long Jump. He took the 100m title in 10.71, the 200m in 21.42 and the long jump with a leap of 7.35m - 24' 1.5".

Junior Charles Loftin of the Providence School won the 1A boy's 1600m in with a 4:20.15 in a battle with Cambridge (Christian) School senior Ethan Esposito. Esposito was second in 4:20.46.

The Benjamin School's Michael Winfield led four boys under 49.00 in winning the 400m with a time of 48.38. Second went to Dakota Brower of Oak Hall in 48.38, third to Da'Corrian Jones of Pahokee in 48.53 and fourth to Asher Black of Blountstown in 48.83.

Brian Exume of Atlantic Christian and Julian Luiz of the Benjamin School battled over the last several hurdles in the boys 400mH with Exume gettng the win in 53.97 and Luiz the runner-up spot in 53.87.


Cambridge (Christian) School senior Kai Martin struggled with an injury during most of the outdoor season, but came back to win the boy's 1A 800m title with a 1:53.46.


Blountstown and Pahokee battled in the 1A 4x400m with Blountstown taking the win with a 3:22.3. Pahokee ran 3:22.80

Eighth grader Mary Summers of Seven Rivers Christian dominated from start to finish the 1600m in 5:01.84, and the 3200m in 10:52.87. In the 800m, she was leading with less than 200m to go, and finished in third with a 2:14.47.

Benjamin's School, Sofia Balistreri, won the 1A girls' 800m in one of the closest races of the day. The junior won in 2:14.47, just nipping junior Estella Collante of Oak Hall, who was second in 2:14.91.girls'

Junior Lee Peters of the Foundation Academy had an outstanding day winning the 100m in 11.60 and placing second in the 200m with a 23.79.

Freshman Cai Culpepper of Tampa Prep won the 400/200 double. She won the 400 in 52.92 and the 200m in 23.69.

Junior Keymani Dillingham of St. Stephens Episcopal won the 100mH, the 400mH, and was third in the Shot Put!
