TALLAHASSEE, Fla.
- The University of South Florida track and field teams posted four overall top finishes and several more top-5 placements during the second day of action, but the first full day, in the FSU Relays Friday at the Mike Long Track.

Sophomore David Aristil had a solid meet after placing first overall in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.17, a mark that surpassed his PR and moved him into third all-time at USF. Aristil also ran the 800 meters for the first time in his career and came up just short of a BIG EAST qualifying time in 1:54.33, but which did place him second overall at the meet.

Teams from Wisconsin, Tennessee, Florida A&M, Troy, Embry-Riddle, North Florida, Jacksonville and the host Seminoles, among others, competed at the meet.

Also placing first in the hurdles was senior Yvana Hepburn, whose time of 13.71 earned her the top spot in the 100 hurdles, falling just .07 seconds off her all-time best.

One of Hepburn's classmates, senior Michael Kursteiner, also won his event, taking first in the high jump after tying his personal best at 6-10.75. Kursteiner won the event after topping Marlon Woods of Florida State in a jump-off after both were tied following their last jumps.

A week removed from setting the school record in the 3,000 steeplechase, sophomore Nicole Rozario came away with the top overall finish at the FSU Relays in the event, finishing the race in 10:33.73.

After rain postponed much of Thursday evening's competition, sophomore Lauren Noe went out Friday morning and placed second in the hammer after throwing 168-8 with Troy's Tiphanie Baker taking the meet title with a heave of 176-0.

Sophomore Allie Prendergast added her name to the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships in the 1,500 meters along with the 5,000 meters from earlier in the season, running a 4:34.30 in her first collegiate 1,500, finishing just behind classmate Yasmin Smith, who went 4:31.70 for a new PR.

Junior Rachel Etienne finished fourth in the heptathlon after starting off the day fifth following the first day of competition Thursday. She totaled 4,565 points at the meet, eclipsing her previous best of 4,372 set last season, to move into third all-time at USF.

Etienne had the top time in the 800 meters among heptathletes in 2:18.98, while also finishing fourth in each of the high jump (5-2.25), long jump (17-9.75) and 200 (26.51) and sixth in the 100 hurdles (15.21).

Juniors Dana Webb and Stephanie Duffy tied for third in the pole vault with Lizbeth Mabry of Florida State, as all three cleared 12-6 to finish second among collegiate athletes.

In the 400 meters, freshman Pascal Orelus finished sixth overall after crossing the finish line in 48.39, and he was joined by senior Greg Fontus who ran 49.74.

Senior Samantha Shade earned a top-5 finish in the long jump after launching herself 18-5.75 into the sand. A jump of 17-5.25 for freshman Tralanda Todd gave her a new personal best in the event as well.

Noe also threw well in the discus, missing out on a PR by a foot with a throw of 147-7, which placed her fourth overall. Sophomores Sarah Canter and Atasha Warren went 6-7 in the discus with marks of 142-11 and 142-1, respectively.

In the javelin, junior Kevin Kelly came away with a throw of 188-5, while freshman Neamen Wise, training for the decathlon later in the season while recovering from a leg injury, posted a mark of 172-2, which sits him just outside the top 9 all time at USF, after throwing the javelin for one of just the few times in his career. For the women, a throw of 138-9 for sophomore Casey Wagner put her in fourth overall.

Sophomore Phillip Wise posted a new PR in the 1,500 meters after placing sixth at the meet in 3:55.98. Junior Meagan Smithyman ran 2:20.01 as she placed 10th overall among a field of more than 30 in the 800 meters.

A time of 18:02.11 for sophomore Jen Wynands gave her a PR in the 5,000 meters as she came in seventh.

Also competing in the heptathlon for USF were sophomores Alexandria Ware and Alex Rosenberger and freshman Natasha Pelton. Ware totaled 3,658 points, while Rosenberger and Pelton posted point totals of 3,055 and 3,022, respectively.

USF will be back at the Mike Long Track Saturday for the third day of competition at the FSU Relays. The first event of the day, the men's discus, is set to start at 10 a.m.
