Belén Jesuit decided to compete in the FHSAA XC State Championships on Nov. 22nd. With Marcelo Mantecon winning in 15:03.30 and Armando Cruz placing second in 15:12.70, they led their team to its 18th overall and 10th consecutive Team Title. The Nike South Regional was held the same day in Cary, NC. The Belen boys were the defending team champions. Because of the conflict, Nike announced it would hand out "At-Large" team and individual invitations. Belen, unfortunately, was not one of the four teams selected. Marcelo Mantecon, however, based on the strength of his undefeated season, received one of the two at-large boys' invitations.
The Nike Cross Nationals will be held on the Glendoveer Golf Course in Portland, OR, on Saturday, Dec. 6th.
