As we head into the 2026 Indoor T&F season, eyes will be on J'Nia Simpson of Tampa Catholic. The senior has already proven she is one of the top weight girls in the nation and one of Florida's all-time bests. She started her 2026 campaign off with a win in December at the Galleria Games in the Shot Put with a US #3 toss of 14.74m (48-4.32) and a third-place finish in the Weight Throw of 16.02m (52-06.75). Her specialty, however, is the Shot, and her resume is impeccable.
She is a three-time Florida High School Indoor Championship champion with throws of 13.09 in 2023, 13.53 in 2024, and 13.49 in 2025.
Outdoors, she is just as impressive in both the Shot Put and the Discus. She is a two-time 2A State champion in the Discus, winning in 2024 with a throw of 43.69m and 2025 with 46.15m. She was second in 2023 with 43.66m. She was the FLYRA Middle School state discus champion in 2022 with a throw of 38.75m. She is a three-time 2A State champion in the Shot with throws of 14.09m in 2025, 12.89m in 2024, and 13.47m in 2023. She was the FLYRA Middle School state champion in 2022 with a toss of 14.82m.
