TAMPA - Several University of South Florida track and field athletes posted personal bests Friday as the 2010 regular season came to a close with the South Florida Invitational at the USF Track & Field Stadium.
Junior Rachel Etienne was one of those athletes to have a good day as she had a pair of PRs on the day, leaping 19-1.25 in the long jump to best her previous PR of 19-0, while also completing the 400 hurdles in 1:01.30, more than a second better than she had ever done before.
The PRs continued with sophomore Atasha Warren, whose throw of 151-10 in the discus marked her best throw ever, as well as with sophomore Yasmin Smith in the 800 meters, as she completed the race in 2:13.24.
Junior Dana Webb upped her season-best in the pole vault and improved her standing in the East Region for the NCAA Preliminary Round by clearing 12-10. Senior Sean Young had a solid meet after jumping 16-7.25 in the men's pole vault.
Seniors Greg Fontus and Josh Wimbley competed in the 100 meters, with Fontus running a time of 10.65, while Wimbley, who hadn't run the 100 before while at USF, had a time of 10.78 to land on the all-time top 10 list. Fontus also ran the 200 where he just came up short of his season best after finishing a half lap around the track in 21.56.
Senior Yvana Hepburn ran well in the 100 hurdles, as she carried a time 13.56, just off her PR of 13.49 she had earlier in the season. On the men's side in the 110 hurdles, sophomore David Aristil crossed the finish line in a time of 14.26.
Aristil also completed the 400 hurdles in 51.56, and sophomore Reshaw Exilien tied his all-time PR from earlier this year in the 400 meters when he ran 48.01.

The Bulls will send a yet-to-be-determined number of athletes to the NCAA Preliminary Round beginning May 27 in Greensboro, N.C., with the top 12 at the meet in each event securing a spot at the NCAA Championships.
