New Florida Boys No. 1 Marks: Week of March 2-7

Week four of the Florida outdoor season saw the Florida boys demonstrating their talent as we moved close to mid-season.  Nine new Florida No. 1's, including nine U.S. Top 10.

 

Zamarii Sanders Sweeps Sprint Titles At Ellis Elite

Cardinal Newman senior Zamarii Sanders delivered one of the most impressive performances of the week at The Ellis Elite 16 Track and Field Invitational, capturing Florida leads in both the 100m and the 200m.

Sanders ran 10.08 (+1.5) in the 100 meters and followed with a 20.46 (+0.5) in the 200 meters, completing a dominant sprint sweep. The marks immediately place him among the fastest sprinters in the nation early this outdoor season.

  • 100m: 10.08 (+1.5) - Florida #1, U.S. No. 3

  • 200m: 20.46 (+0.5) - Florida #1, U.S. No. 4


Kedric Wright Jr. Takes Over 400m Lead

Palatka junior Kedric Wright Jr. surged to the top of the Florida leaderboard in the 400 meters, clocking 47.23 to win the event at the Bolles Bulldog Classic. His performance signals a strong start to the outdoor season, as his performance drops him into a U.S. No. 12 tie. Sub 46.00 is on the horizon.


Marcelo Mantecon controls the Florida Distance Scene with an incredible Quadruple Performance.

Belen junior Marcelo Mantecon showcased his impressive range at the Bolles Bulldog Classic, setting state-leading marks in two distance events.

Mantecon won the 800 meters in 1:51.75 and later claimed the 3200 meters in 8:58.19, giving him Florida's top times in both events.

Mantecon also won the 1600m at Bolles with a 4:12.13. He already holds the top 1600m mark in the state with a 4:06.86 (U.S. No. 1). His 1600m win came on the heels of a 4x800 leg earlier in the meet.

  • 800m: 1:51.75 U.S. No. 2

  • 3200m: 8:58.19 U.S. No. 2


Jeremy Mango Leads State In 110m Hurdles

Rickards junior Jeremy Mango ran 13.92 (+1.8) in the 110-meter hurdles to take the Florida lead while winning at the Ellis Elite 16 Invitational. His performance puts him at U.S. No. 3.


Samuel Johnson Jumps To Triple Jump Lead

Montverde Academy junior Samuel Johnson unleashed a big 14.91m (48-11.00) leap to win the triple jump at the West Orange - Dr. Baptiste Invitational, moving to No. 1 in the state and a U.S. No.2.


Jeremiah Lysius Clears 2.07m in High Jump

Park Vista's Jeremiah Lysius cleared 2.07m (6-10.50) at the Ellis Elite 16 Invitational to take over the Florida lead in the high jump. His mark moved him to U.S. No. 5 in the national rankings, s he inches toward a 7.0' mark.


Brison Sullivan Throws Top Javelin Mark

New Smyrna Beach senior Brison Sullivan threw 63.41m (160-8) to win the George Janan Invitational at SCHS, producing Florida's best javelin mark so far this season and U.S. No. 2.


Charlie Perkins Dominates the Shot Put

Niceville junior Charlie Perkins powered the shot, breaking through the 60' barrier for the first time with a toss of 18.56m (60-10.50) at the Ellis Elite 16 Invitational, establishing the new Florida #1 mark and moving him closer to a U.S. Top 10. He is at No. 13


Flanagan Takes Over 4x100 Relay

Flanagan HS relay squad clocked 40.13 to win the 4x100 meters at BCAA Week Three - Flanaganestablishing the fastest relay time in Florida this season and vaulting the squad to a U.S. No. 2 ranking.
