New Florida Girls No. 1 Marks: Week of March 2–7

Junior Alba Antunez-Perez of Spanish River was 6th in the 4A FHSAA State XC Championship in 18:20.30. She was 5th in the Florida High School Indoor Championships in the Mile with a 5:00.80. She started her outdoor campaign with an 11:02.49 in the 3200. At the Bolles Bulldog Classic, she ran a state-leading, U.S. No. 5, 10:31 in the 3200m.

New Florida Girls No. 1 Marks: Week of March 2-7

Week four of the Florida outdoor track and field season produced another round of impressive performances as the girls continued to raise the bars across the state. The Florida girls leaderboard saw five new No. 1 marks, with several performances making a major impact nationally, including four U.S. Top 10 marks and two new U.S. No. 1 performances.


Here's a closer look at the athletes who climbed to the top of the Florida leaderboard last week.

Janeya Jones Blazes Florida's Fastest 100m

Miami Northwestern senior Janeya Jones sprinted to the top of the Florida leaderboard in the 100 meters, clocking 11.40 (+0.8) at the Falcon Relays Invitational Track Meet.


Jones' winning performance also ranks her No. 11 in the U.S. this season, making her one of the fastest sprinters in the country early in the outdoor campaign.


Atarah Robinson Runs U.S. No. 1 In The 1600m

Venice senior Atarah Robinson delivered one of the biggest performances in the nation last week, running 4:50.23 to win the 1600 meters at the Larry Richardson Memorial Invitational.

The time not only moves Robinson to Florida No. 1, but also stands as the U.S. No. 1 mark this season.


Alba Antunez-Perez Breaks Through In The 3200m

Spanish River sophomore Alba Antunez-Perez ran 10:31.00 to win the 3200 meters at the Bolles Bulldog Classic, taking over the Florida lead.

Her performance ranks U.S. No. 5, establishing her as one of the top distance runners nationally in this early outdoor season.


Mikalyla Palmer Clears Florida-Leading High Jump

Spruce Creek senior Mikalyla Palmer cleared 1.73 meters (5-8) at the George Janan Invitational at SCHS to move to No. 1 in Florida in the high jump.

The mark also ties her for U.S. No. 9 nationally this season.


Mikayla Shavers Leaps To U.S. No. 1 In Triple Jump

Fleming Island senior Mikayla Shavers produced one of the top field performances in the country, jumping 12.57 meters (41-2.75) to win the triple jump at the Bolles Bulldog Classic.

Despite a -3.2 wind reading, the jump stands as the Florida No. 1 mark and currently ranks U.S. No. 1 this season.
