2A Girls Rankings:
By: Gerry Spring Lake Highland Prep - gspring@lhps.org

Commentary: Some very interesting district results with the obvious conclusion that I need to get to more meets in South Florida and the Panhandle to see more teams! The region matchups are now set and Regions 1 -3 have solid favorites at the top while I would love to see Region 4 in person bc it shapes up as the most competitive team race of all three- combined with the individual matchup of Ms. Carpio and Ms Schappert. Good luck to all and hope to see you at hte Ranch November 20.

Team Rankings: Region Previews
Region 1 - Bolles the clear favorite with an interesting mix of teams 4-7. I am going to mix things up here with a couple of bold picks!
1 Bolles
2 Bishop Kenny
3 Matanzas
4 West Florida Tech
5 Episcopal
6 Nease

Region 2 - Cocoa Beach and Titusville continue their season long battle at Chain of Lakes Park. Both have created a clear seperation form the rest of the Region. My bold pick for third is Lake Highland but they are poorly coached so Bishop Moore or Rockledge can step right up with a strong performance. Crystal River seems to be the lone District 5 team to break up the party - Prove me wrong!
1 Cocoa Beach
2 Titusville
3 Lake Highland
4 Bishop Moore
5 Rockledge
6 Crystal River

Region 3 - Estero the clear favorite - who will step up the keep them form dropping a perfect score ? Teams 3- 6 here very tight as well
1 Estero
2 Academy of Holy Names
3 Immokalee
4 G Steinbrenner
5 Berkley Prep
6 Cypress Lake

Region 4 - this one is going to be fun to watch! Carrollton seems to have the edge up front but anyone of 4-5 teams could take it with a great race. This definitley a race where #6 and #7 runners can play a HUGE role.
1 Carrollton
2 Pine Crest
3 Ransom E
4 Lincoln park
5 Cardinal Gibbons
6 Pope J Paul

3A Girls Rankings:
By: Andy Holmes, Seffner Christian Academy - aholmes@scacrusaders.com

Commentary: For the Pre-Region Rankings, I have ranked the 24 teams that I predict will advance out of the Region meet and on to State. There will be some very good teams left out of the rankings, because I am predicting they will not make it out of some very tough regions. Also ranked, are the top 50 individuals. Below that is the predicted finish at each Regional Meet. 3A-1 is the toughest region, as I mentioned before, some good teams will not be moving on to state. Look for Chiles to win the region fairly easily, but the teams below them are narrowing the gap. Creekside, Niceville, and Fort Walton Beach will battle it out for the runner-up spot. Wiregrass Ranch is the class of this Region, and should do well again, having run on this course at Starkey Park 2 other times this season. The gap is small between Lake Region, King, Gulf, Springstead, and Ridgewood for the runner-up position. In 3A-3, #1 ranked Lakewood Ranch will take home the title, with Fort Myers looking strong in the number 2 position. 3A-4 should be won by Oviedo, but could be tested by South Fork or Harmony

Team Rankings:
Team Name, Region -  (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Lakewood Ranch, 3 (1) Mustangs nearly reach perfection in scoring 19 points, winning 3A District 5 Championship
2. Chiles, 1 (2) 20 point win in very competitive 3A District 5, to take home another crown
3. Fort Walton Beach, 1 (3) Not too far behind Chiles, will look to narrow gap even more this week
4. Creekside, 1 (5) Best 1-5 split in 3A this week with just 27 seconds, took 3A District 2 title
5. Niceville, 1 (4) 5 in the top 25 to take 3rd in 3A District 1
6. Fort Myers, 3 (6) Made it look easy in taking home 3A-6 title, placing 5 in the top 16
7. Wiregrass Ranch, 2 (7) Not challenged in taking 3A-3 title, and should make it look easy this week too
8. Oviedo, 4 (8) The class of this region, should win, with roughly the same competition as last week
9. Gulf Coast, 3 (11) Have exceeded expectations, finishing runner-up to Fort Myers in 3A-6
10. Choctawhatchee, 1 (9) Maybe not as well known as some of the other teams in this area, but putting together a good run
11. South Fork, 4 (14) Runner-up to Oviedo, but will once again have to hold off Harmony and Merritt Island, defeating them by 4 and 6 respectively
12. Harmony, 4 (15) As mentioned above, will have a tight battle on their hands
13. Ridgeview, 1 (18) Getting out of this region is no given, as they defeated Bartram Trail and Vanguard by 6 and 9 points respectively
14. Merritt Island, 4 (23) Could move up a few spots in their 3-way battle with South Fork and Harmony
15. Naples, 3 (12) 4th in 3A-6, will look to pull close with Gulf Coast
16. St. Cloud, 4 (20) 5th in 3A-7, steadily rising in the rankings
17. Martin County, 4 (24) 6th in 3A-7, could move up on Martin County
18. Lake Region, 2 (17) Runner-up in 3A District 4, will look to hold that spot in the region
19. King, 2 (25) Could give Lake Region a run for the runer-up spot, but must narrow the gap between its #4 and #5 runners
20. Charlotte, 3 (19) Took 4th in 3A District 6, with just a 44 second 1-5 split
21. Ida S. Baker, 3 (10) Biggest dip in the rankings with an off day, finishing 5th in 3A-6, but could still move way up
22. Gulf, 2 (27) Could move up even higher, in what should be a competitive 3A-2 meet
23. Springstead, 2 (33) Maybe one of the best stories in 3A; only 7 TOTAL runners on squad, and will look to get to state
24. Ridgewood, 2 (28) Another solid team out of Pasco County will look to get to state

4A Girls Rankings:
By: Ryan Raposo, Ferguson HS - rraposo@dadeschools.net

Team Commentary: Lourdes is holding strong and appears to have opened the gap a little bit although a couple of injuries have hurt their depth and put extra pressure on the two big freshmen to set up when it really matters. DP is closing the gap on Plant but it shouldn't be noticeable until the state meet although Plant appears to be holding back at this point. For the rest of the Region 1 and 2 teams its all about moving along to the big show or stressing trying to get there. The state meet should be very exciting this year particularly relating to the top 10 break down. (Spread and commentary for sub 21:00 Avg teams and/or possible state qualifying teams.)

Team Rankings by Region:
Region 1: The top three schools here are all interchangeable. Who will win will depend on everyone's 5th runner. SpCreek & Lake Mary gotta bring their packs up and Melbourne is hanging on after losing their #3 & #4 girls. WS has a shot if their 3-5 pack puts it together.
Region 1: (14 schools) State (Prev.) Comments:
1. Hagerty- 4 (6) 20:07 Avg, 1st in D1 - 1:02 spread
2. Mandarin- 5 (5) 19:58 Avg, 2nd in D1 - 1:43 spread (6s for 3-5 spread, 1-2 could be top 15 at state)
3. Vero Beach-  6 (7) 20:00 Avg, 1st in D2 - 2:40 spread (54s for 3-5 spread, 1-2 could be top 5 at state)
4. Spruce Creek-  8 (3) 20:27 Avg, 2nd in D2 - 55s spread (I think they're holding back on us!)
5. Lake Mary- 13 (10) 20:57 Avg, 3rd in D1 - 47s spread (24s for 2-6 spread)
T6. Melbourne-  T-14 (11) 20:49 Avg, 3rd in D2 - 4:10 spread (39s for 3-5, 1-2 could be top 5 at state)
T6. Winter Springs- T-14 (NR) 20:49 Avg, 4th in D1 - 1:44 spread (6s for 3-5 spread)
8. Lake Brantley- - (NR) 21:18 Avg, 4th in D2
9. Lyman- - (NR) 21:25 Avg, T-5 in D1
10. Fletcher- - (NR) 21:50 Avg, T-5 in D1
11. Buchholz- - (NR) 21:52 Avg, 7th in D1
12. Fleming Island - (NR) 22:18 Avg, 8th in D1
13. Palm Bay- - (NR) 23:28 Avg, 5th in D2
14. Gateway- - (NR) 26:37 Avg, 6th in D2

Region 2: I've said it before and let me say it again- "The new Region of Death- I believe the top 8 teams could all finish in the top 15 at State." Now it'll be a fun race with DP improving, but their 1-2 strength will show more at state than at the Region. SaraR should be 3rd, and the last three spots are a toss up. Five strong teams will be vying for a change to get to the big show. Good luck ladies.
Region 2: (16 teams) State (Prev.) Comments:
1. Plant- T-2 (2) 19:52 Avg, 1st in D4 - 6s spread, I wish I could break a 20:00 team avg on a pack run!! Great job!
2. Dr. Phillips-  T-2 (4) 19:20 Avg, 1st in D3 - 1:59 spread (48s for 3-5, 1-2 could be top 5 at state)
3. Sarasota Riverview-  7 (8) 20:11 Avg, 2nd in D4 - 1:31 spread (1:01 from 4th to 5th)
T4. St. Petersburg- T-10 (9) 20:39 Avg, 3rd in D4 - 1:53 spread
T4. Boone- T-10 (12) 20:39 Avg, 4th in D3 - 1:31 spread for 1-6, missing Classe?
T4. Winter Park-  T-10 (13) 20:34 Avg, 3rd in D3 - 3:23 spread (1:39 from 4th to 5th)
T4. Newsome- T-10 (NR) 20:40 Avg, 5th in D3 - 2:23 spread (1:08 from 4th to 5th)
T4. Olympia T-10 (NR) 20:30 Avg, 2nd in D3 - 1:40 spread
9. Colonial- - (NR) 21:02 Avg, 6th in D3
10. Wharton- - (NR) 21:09 Avg, 4th in D4
11. Timber Creek- - (NR) 21:15 Avg, 7th in D3
12. Northeast (St. P)- - (NR) 21:15 Avg, 5th in D4
13. Freedom (Tampa)- - (NR) 21:22 Avg, 6th in D4
14. Bloomingdale- - (NR) 21:37 Avg, 8th in D3
15. Sarasota- - (NR) 21:39 Avg, 7th in D4
16. Seminole- - (NR) 22:23 Avg, 8th in D4

Region 3: Last week I said Region 3 was looking stronger than last year, but that's not the case as what seemed to be slower District times. I think a couple of these teams have potential to reach the top 15, but they're going to have to work for it. Right now this is definitely the slowest region in the state.
Region 3: (16 teams) State (Prev.) Comments:
1. St. Thomas Aquinas-  15 (15) 21:02 Avg, 1st in D6 - 1:50 spread, real tight 1-2-3 pack! 7s spread
2. Cypress Bay- 18 (20) 21:50 Avg, 2nd in D6 - 2:31 spread
3. Spanish River-  21 (16) 22:26 Avg, 1st in D5 - 1:45 spread
4. West Broward-  22 (21) 22:20 Avg, 3rd in D6 - 4:17 spread, (2:18 from 2nd to 3rd)
5. Park Vista- 23 (17) 22:56 Avg, 2nd in D5 - 1:31 spread for 1-7, nice back pack!!
6. Monarch- 24 (NR) 23:18 Avg, 4th in D6 - 3:21 spread
7. South Plantation- - (NR) 23:41 Avg, 5th in D6
8. Flanagan- - (NR) 23:33 Avg, 6th in D6
9. Plantation- - (NR) 23:48 Avg, 7th in D6
10. Jupiter- - (NR) 23:48 Avg, 3rd in D5
11. Palm Beach Central- - (23) 23:59 Avg, 4th in D5
12. Palm Beach Gardens- - (NR) 24:17 Avg, 5th in D5
13. Douglas- - (NR) 24:30 Avg, 6th in D5
14. Boca Raton- - (NR) 24:49 Avg, 7th in D5
15. Coral Springs- - (NR) 25:01 Avg, 8th in D5
16. Nova- - (NR) 25:17 Avg, 8th in D6

Region 4: Lourdes is still holding strong at the top while the rest of the teams have opened up a gap on Region 3. Look for CR, NW and SD to fight for that last qualifying spot. And for Ferguson, does a SoFla team besides Lourdes crack the records books? Only time will tell!!
Region 4: (12 teams) State (Prev.) Comments:
1. Our Lady of Lourdes-  1 (1) 19:28 Avg, 1st in D8 - 1:02 spread for 1-6
2. Ferguson-  9 (14) 20:28 Avg, 2nd in D8 - 29s spread, great pack ladies!! <3
3. Miami Sunset-  16 (18) 21:14 Avg, 3rd in D8 - 2:48 spread
4. Miami Killian-  17 (19) 21:40 Avg, 4th in D8 - 4:28 spread
5. Coral Reef-  18 (24) 22:04 Avg, 5th in D8 - 1:53 spread
6. Miami Northwestern- 20 (22) 22:11 Avg, 1st in D7 - 3:45 spread (1:25 from 4th to 5th)
7. South Dade-  - (NR) 22:30 Avg, 6th in D8 - 1:23 spread
8. Miami Coral Park- - (NR) 24:13 Avg, 2nd in D7
9. Dr. Krop- - (NR) 23:50 Avg, 3rd in D7
10. Miami Beach- - (NR) 25:35 Avg, 4th in D7
11. Miami Senior- - (NR) 26:00 Avg, 5th in D7
12. Goleman- - (NR) 26:38 Avg, 6th in D7

State Virtual Meet: https://fl.milesplit.com/meets/virtual/2010/cc/hs/f/results?teams=Girls4A_State
Note: Virtual Meet includes eight teams from Region 2 (includes Olympia and Newsome)

Individuals Commentary: Now getting into the state series, things are starting to unfold. One thing to notice with the top ranked girls is that top seven (plus Campo) have been pretty stable this entire season and after that group, you get a huge inconsistent jumble. So at this point, it's anybody's guess as to how the rest of the individuals will break down. But I would expect the pack to get faster. Also to notice is that that jumble contains ALL of the Lourdes and Plant girls. So every place matters!

Notes: All of the girls that ran sub 20:10 at their respective Districts are listed. Currently 20:20 will get you 70th place at the State Meet. But times will keep dropping!
~The 12 seconds between 19:51 and 20:03 separates 21 positions (24th thru 44th). This is where a championship can be won or lost. Get in front of that pack girls!
~Districts 3 and 4 are by far the hardest two districts. Good luck at the Region 2 of Death ladies! Also, no girls from Districts 6 or 7 are listed in the individual rankings.
  Mock State Score: Lourdes- 92 , Dr. Phillips- 133 (4th & 5th are 56 & 58 points) , Plant- 143

3. Matanzas - Running well right now. A top 10 team at state.

5. Pensacola Catholic - They have an average day and they secure a spot to state.
6. Arnold - They will have the tough job of trying to hold off the following 2 schools for that final spot at state.
7. Episcopal
8. Bolles
Individual Qualifiers: Dieumy Duclos (Godby), Jacob Leuze (South Walton), Tristan Lanasa (South Walton), Albert Edwards (Florida High), Matthew Morris (Bolles)

  Region 2  Comments:

3. Rockledge - Another Brevard school that will be running at state.
4. Mount Dora - District times were slow but my guess is that it was a tough course
5. West Shore - The 4th Brevard school from this region that should make it to state.

  Region 3  Comments:
1. Estero - The closest thing to a shoe in that you can have
2. George Steinbrenner - Have come on VERY strong and won a very competitive district. Could be top 3 at state
3. Berkeley Prep - If they are on they are the #2 team in the state. An average day and they could fall to #4 or #5 in the state.
4. Tampa Jesuit - They are on a rebuilding year but still could crack the top 5 at state.
5. Cypress Lake - These waters may seem calm, but they have a battle on their hands for a transfer spot.
6. Immokalee - They will have to be on their A game to secure a spot in the coveted top 6
7. Robinson - Could get the bad draw of being the first team left out of the toughest region in 2A
8. Labelle Same situation as Robinson
Individual Qualifiers: Brian Sharp (Robinson), Gabrielle Barron (Labelle)

  Region 4  Comments:
1. Ransom Everglades - Great coaching, great front runner, and this one’s a lock.
2. Pine Crest - Their season has been very successful, and they look strong
3. Lincoln Park - Another year at the state meet for this BAND of brothers
4. Archbishop McCarthy - They must be careful as the schools behind them are very hungry
5. Jensen Beach - Will be in a very close battle for a spot at state.
6. University of NSU - They will have the fight of their lives trying to fend off the following 2 schools.
7. Gulliver Prep - This school has a lot of running history and they could very easily sneak into the top 6.
8. Key West - Could end up anywhere from 5th-8th. They hit it right and they will have a LONG, but worthy, trip to the state meet!
Individual Qualifiers: Timothy Hendricks & Nicholas Palermo (N. Broward Prep), Brian Diener (St. Andrews), Adam Johnson (LaSalle)
