Girls 3A Districts Highlights
Dillard senior Ariyanna Griggs, the defending 3A state champion in the 100m, continues to lead the classification with an 11.56 season best. She secured the District 14 title in 12.02 and added a runner-up finish in the 200m (24.44), keeping herself firmly in contention for another sprint double.
The 200m picture saw a shift as Everglades sophomore Arianna Woolcock moved to No. 1 in the 3A rankings with a 23.74 at District 15. She also won the 100m (12.01) and ran on the runner-up 4x100 relay. North Miami senior Antanyiah Brown (23.78), Griggs (23.81), and Rickards junior Journee Belcher (23.95) are all under 24 seconds this season, setting up a highly competitive State 200m. Brown swept the District 16 sprints, while Belcher (District 2) was one of the top all-around performers, winning the 200m (24.04), 400m (56.26), and high jump (1.62m), while placing second in the 100m (11.87).
Belcher, the defending state champion in the high jump, has already matched her winning mark of 1.72m from last season and leads 3A again, positioning herself well for a repeat.
In the 400m, Dillard senior Desiree Frazier stands alone as the only 3A runner under 54 seconds this season with a 53.45. She doubled at District 14 with wins in the 200m (24.19) and 400m (55.22).
The 800m features two clear front-runners. Lourdes freshman Marisa Mantecon (2:09.18) and Satellite senior Keira Merrick (2:11.71) are the only sub-2:12 performers this season. Mantecon swept the 800m (2:09.36) and 1600m (5:20.51) at District 16, while Merrick won the 800m (2:21.53) and 400mH (1:05.73) at District 13. The two are set to meet in Region 4.
Bishop Moore Freshman Annabella Tomasic leads the 3A TFRRS rankings in the 1600m (4:55.32) and the 3200m (10:28.70). Tomasic, a state XC champion as a 7th grader, is chasing her first state track championship. She ran her state-leading 1600m time in her win in District 6. She also took the 3200m in 11:08.57 and ran a leg on the winning 4x800m relay.
The 1600m is shaping up to be one of the marquee girls' events at State, with three other girls, in addition to Tomasic, having sub-5:00 times this season, and the four are separated by less than 3 seconds. Joining Tomasic under 5:00 are freshman Marisa Mantecon of Lourdes, junior Lydia Vincent of Zephyrhills, and sophomore Peyton Cerasi of Matanzas. Senior Celina Coryell of Satellite has opted to concentrate on the 3200m, not running the 1600m in District 13. Vincent won her race in District 7 (5:10.99). Cerasi was 2nd in the 1600 in District 4 (5:12.65).
In the 3200m, Tomasic and Satellite senior Celina Coryell (10:30.00) are well ahead of the field, each winning their district titles. The head-to-head matchup will come in the State final.
Beachside junior Kaitlyn Brown leads the 3A 100m hurdles as the only athlete under 14 seconds this season (13.90). She had a standout District 4 meet, winning the 100mH (14.24), long jump (5.06m), and triple jump (11.06m), while placing second in the 400mH. Niceville junior Saylor Tolbert now leads 3A in the 400mH after a 1:01.24 win at District 2, setting up a strong regional clash.
In the jumps, Plantation senior Nyla Christian of Miami Northwestern, last year's state champion, remains the leading contender after winning District 15 with a 5.98m jump. However, the event is wide open, with eight athletes over 19 feet this season, separated by just inches. Fleming Island senior Mikayla Shavers, the defending triple jump champion, leads the state with a 12.91m mark and won District 3 (12.67m), while also taking the long jump (5.81m).
The 2025 state champion in the Javelin was Niceville's Shelby Plasierr. The junior won with a throw of 44.27m. One of the top throwers in the state, she is atop the 3A rankings with a throw of 44.88m this season and won the District 2 title with a throw of 41.94m. Her 44.88 puts her at No. 5 in all-divisions state rankings.
