Highlights

  • Edward Cheserek (St. Benedict's Prep) led his team to victory in the DMR with a 4:07 1600 meter leg for a 10:14.54 clocking.  Cheserek then came back in the 2 mile with an impressive victory in a time of 9:02.49.
  • Najee Glass (St. Peter's Prep) won the 400m dash with a swift clocking of 47.54.
  • Dickinson (NJ) boys won the 4x800 with a 7:52.85 clocking.
  • Nick Vena (Morristown NJ) won the shot with a heave of 71-03.25.
  • Myasia Jacobs (Paramus Catholic) lit up the track in the 55 dash and bettered her own US#1 performance with a clocking of 6.84.

 

 

Brooks PR Invitational, WA

Highlights

  • Wesley Frazier (Ravenscroft NC) shared the lead for most of the race before falling behind with a lap to go.  Then, with 60 meters to go she tore through the deficit to Kayla Beattie, and crossed the line with the win in a US#1 and US#9 All-Time clocking of 10:17.47!  Beattie was 2nd in a US#2 clocking of 10:17.93.  The girls race had 9 run under 10:30!
  • Ammar Moussa (Arcadia CA) took the pace from the beginning and pulled away over the last 100 meters to win with a US#2 time of 9:00.63.  Matt Jablonski (Loyola Bakersfield) was 2nd in a US#3 time of 9:02.51.  The boys race had 8 under 9:10!
  • Courtney Okoio (Smith TX) upset Kendall Baisden (Detroit Country Day MI) in the girls 400 dash with a US#1 time of 54.26 to 54.31.
  • Arman Hall (St. Thomas Aquinas FL) won the boys 400 dash with a US#1 time of 47.45.
  • Kendell Williams (Kell GA) won the girls 60m Hurdles with a US#2 time of 8.44.
  • Torrey Campbell (Barron Collier FL) rolls to a T-US#3 7.82 win to upset  Demitrius Lindo (Coolidge DC) 7.83 and Jonathan Cabral  (Agoura CA) 7.85.
  • Shelby Houlihan (IA) rolled up Jenna Westaway (CAN) on the final turn to take the win with a US#1 time of 2:08.59 while Westaway was 2:11.04.
  • Keffri Neal (British Columbia CAN) won with a blazing last 100 meters with a time of 1:50.92 while Nick Kaiser (MI) was 2nd with a US#2 time of 1:52.25.  Kyle Thompson (TX) was 3rd with a US#3 time of 1:52.69.
  • Dezerea Bryant (Bradley Tech WI) won the girls 60m dash with a US#5 All-Time performance of 7.26!  Olivia Ekpone (Northwest MD) was 2nd in 7.46 while Hannah Cunliffe 3rd.
  • Damiere Byrd (Timber Creek Regional NJ) blasted a US#1 and T-US#13 All-Time 6.70 in the boys 60 meter dash for the win.
  • Ajee Wilson (Neptune NJ) won the girls Mile over Amy Eloise-Neale (WA) with both girls closing hard over the final 50 meters.  Wilson was at a US#1 4:49.48 while Eloise-Neale was 2nd in a US#3 time of 4:49.58.
  • Jantzen Oshier (Trabuco Hills CA) uses a punishing last 600 to gap the field and hold off a hard-charging Elias Gedyon (Loyola Bakersfield CA) to win the boys Mile with a US#2 time of 4:07.52 to US#3 4:07.58.

PSAL City Championships, NY

Highlights

  • Strymar Livingston, Christopher Columbus NY, uncorked a monster surge after 200 meters and rewrote the record books with a time of 1:17.64 for 600 meters, erasing the mark of Shaquan Brown of 1:17.9 from 2005.
  • Sandrae Farquharson, Medgar Evers, won the girls 300m with a US#1 mark of 38.19.
  • Claudia Francis, Benjamin Cardozo, won the 600m but came up short of a record run with her time of 1:30.56.
  • Andre Jordan, Medgar Evers, won the boys 300m with a US#1 mark of 34.20.
  • Shane Green, Erasmus, won the boys triple jump, improving his US#2 mark to 49-8.
  • Medgar Evers won an epic showdown with Sheepshead Bay in the boys 4x200, with Evers coming in at a US#2 time of 1:28.70 and Sheepshead grabbing a US#3 1:28.98.

 

 

Section 3 State Qualifier, NY

Highlights

  • Zavon Watkins (Liverpool) led a barn-burner of a boys 1000m run with a US#1 and US#12 All-Time run of 2:26.13.  The time is also a US Junior Class Record, eclipsing the mark of 2:26.44 set by fellow NYer Alex Hatz in 2009.  John Delallo (West Genesee) was 2nd with a US#2 time of 2:27.29.  Jesse Garn (Marcellus) was 3rd with a US#6 clocking of 2:28.59.
  • Katie Sischo (Fayetteville-Manlius) won the girls 1000m run with a US#9 time of 2:52.21.
  • Jillian Fanning (Fayetteville-Manlius) blasted a 10:08.02 solo effort in the girls 3000m run.

 

 

Section 1 State Qualifier, NY

Highlights

  • Mary Cain (Bronxville) rocketed to a US Freshman Class Record in the girls 1000m run with a 2:50.84 clocking, bettering the 2:52.84 mark set by Devon Williams (MD) in 2004.  The time is also US#4.  She lost a close duel with Anima Banks (Mamaroneck) who finished first with a US#3 time of 2:50.84, also the 5th fastest time in NY All-Time.

Day 1:

  • Isaiah Simmons (Woodbridge) broke the Indoor State Record with a tremendous shot put of 68-0
  • Keilah Tyson (Western Branch) set a new Meet Record in the girls 55 meter dash with a US#3 time of 6.92 in the prelims.  Tyson also jumped 5-7 to win the high jump
  • Chris Pillow (Atlee) matched his US#10 jump in the pole vault to win with a jump of 16-0
  • On the girls side, Cameron Overstreet (Atlee) won the girls pole vault with a new State Record and a US#2 jump of 13-1.50.
  • Allen Bordley (First Colonial) jumped to US#3 in the triple with a 49-5.50.  He previously held the US#8 spot.
  • Daniel McFadden (Heritage) finished the 55 hurdle prelims with the fastest time of the day and a US#1 time of 7.34
  • Malique Key (Woodside) had the fastest time in the boys 55 dash with a US#4 time of 6.32
  • Kiara Howell (Grassfield) won the shot put with a distance of 41-0.
  •  Chantel Ray (Hampton) had the fastest time in the 55 hurdles with a prelim time of 8.21
  • Siobhan Ford-Holland (Thomas Dale) won the Triple Jump with a US#5 jump of 40-4
  • Atlee won the boys 4x800 meter relay with an impressive US#3 time of 7:52.20
  • The West Potomac girls won the 4x800 meter relay with a US#10 time of 9:25.09

Day 2:

  • Majique Key (Woodside) won the boys 55 meter dash with a US#3 time of 6.30
  • KeliahTyson (Western Branch) won the girls 55 meter dash in 6.94 for a US#3 mark.  Tyson currently holds the US#2 spot with 6.87.
  • Montasia Golden (Lee-Davis) won the girls 55 meter hurdles in 8-16.
  • Daniel McFadden (Heritage) bettered his US#2 time of 7.37 in the 55 hurdles by run an impressive 7.21 for a US#1 time.
  • Tiffany Ellick (Western Branch) won the girls long jump with an 18-4.75 jump
  • Joey Muzzio (James Robinson) took the boys high jump with a 6-7
  • Kimberley Ficenec (Mountain View) ran 2:54.47 in the 1000 meter run for the win, just missing the top ten.
  • Ahmed Bile (Annandale) moved into the US#3 spot with a time of 2:28.14 and a win in the boys 1000 meter run.
  • Marques Atkinson (Atlee) won the boys 500 meter dash with a US#4 time of 1:04.39.  Atkinson already holds the US#3 spot with a 1:03.72
  • Cassandra Jones (Granby) improved on her 500 meter dash time moving from US#9 to US#4 with a swift 1:14.53

 

 

California Indoor State Meet (Run for the Dream), CA

Highlights

  • Devon Blackmon (Summit View) won the boys 55 meter hurdles with a time of 7.39 moving into the US#4 spot.
  • Johnny Carter (Bakersfield) jumped 47-11.25 in the triple jump for a US#9
  • Nicholas Scarvelis (Dos Pueblos) heaved a 63-04.50 for a US#5 in the shot put followed by Stephen Boals (Jesuit) with a 60-02.00 for a US#9
  • Brad Bolton (El Toro) moved into US#2 in the weight throw with a toss of 73-04.00
  • Strangenae Campbell (Pinole Valley) won the girls 55 meter dash with a 7.03, just missing a top ten spot
  • Sasha Wallace (Holy Names) moved into US#4 with an 8.01 finish in the 55 meter hurdles followed by Shanice Stewart (Carter G. Woodson) who finished 2nd with a US#8 8.06.  Jordi Munford (Rancho Cucamonga) took 3d with a US#10 time of 8.11
  • Katie Zingheim (Granite Bay) and Robyn Morioka both cleared 12-7 in the pole vault for a US#3
  • Shanice Stewart leap 19-03.00 in the long jump to move into US#6 followed by Kira Moreland's (Summit) US#8 jump of 19-01.75
  • Sasha Wallace jumped 50-05.25 in the triple jump for a US#5 followed by Jenna Prandini's (Clovis) 40-01.00 US#6 jump.
  • In the girls weight throw, Katie Kraychir (Twentynine Palms) threw 60-00.00 for a US#3

Highlights

  • Central Bucks West shaved 15 seconds off their seed time to win the boys 4x800 relay with a time of 7:45.06.  The time is US#7 All-Time, US#1 in 2011 and is the new All-TIme PA State Record and Meet Record.
  • Sara Sargent (Pennsbury) won the girls 3000 meter run with a All-Time State Record of 9:49.33 with a very fast last lap!
  • Cierra White (Engineering and Science) won the girls 200 meter dash with a US#1 time of 24.16!
  • Leah Nugent (Abington) won a thrilling girls 60 Hurdles race over Shelley Black (James McCoughlin) with a state record time of 8.45 to 8.46, with both now ranked US#2 and US#3.  Teammate Jordan Matthews added a long jump victory, pulling out an 18-10.50 mark.
  • Abington also won the 4x200 relay with a US#4 time of 1:41.20 and the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:56.03.
  • Wade Endress (Altoona) won the boys 1 Mile run with a time of 4:13.41 and then added the 800 an hour later with a state record and US#14 All-Time clocking of 1:51.73.  Endress earned Athlete of the meet honors for his efforts.
  • Matt Gilmore (Cheltenham) had an equally impressive day as he won the 200 meter dash (21.89) and the 400 meter dash (49.23) individually.  He also anchored a come from behind victory in the 4x200 relay (1:30.32) and nearly pulled off the same feat in the 4x400 (3:19.18), with Abington first (3:18.80).
  • Chloe Schmidt (State College) won her 3rd straight 800 meter title with a punishing closing kick in a PA-leading and US#4 time of 2:12.07.  She was 2nd in the 1600 an hour earlier.
  • Angel Piccirillo (Homer Center) won the girls 1600 meter run with a time of 4:57.85.
  • Anne Holland (Pennridge) won the high jump with a 5-10 effort to tie a slew of others at US#1.  
  • Ryan Gil (North Allegheny) won a swift 3000 over Tom Trainer (LaSalle) with a US#4 clocking of 8:34.14 to 8:35.45.

  • Phillip Dorsett of St. Thomas Aquinas sets a meet record and US #1 mark of 24-7.45, which last season would have been #2 in the state and top ten in the nation at season's end!  That is a new meet record by a long ways. However, after that feat he injured his right knee during the triple jump. No word yet on the severity.
  • Hugh Graham of Miami Northwestern is the top seed in the 100 (10.92) and 400 going into day two. His prelim time in the 400 was 47.48, which is a meet record and US #1.
  • Shannon Spence of Miami Northwestern wins the long jump (18-0) and finishes second in the triple jump (35-11.75).
  • Last week's Warrior of the Week, Briana Pulido of Archbishop Carroll is top seed in both hurdle events going into day two, fifth in the high jump, third in the long jump (17-6.75).
  • Barbara Vilson of South Dade won the high jump in 5-6, putting her as number one in the state.
  • Tynia Gaither of Osceola is top seed in both 100 and 200 going into finals.
  • Robin Reynolds of Miami Jackson is top seed in the 400 and is complete on her team's SMR and 4x4.
  • Levonte Whitfield of Jones is second seed in the 100 going into Saturday (11.01).
  • Kevin Delgado of Coral Parklaunches the shot to a state leading 53-11 with Michael Montero of Miami Columbus second in 52-4.
  • Amazing battle in the girls discus... Mia Mike of Pace wins out with a 127-6, just six inches better than Amber Monroe of Miami Northwestern, and just back third place was Northwestern teammate Lloydricia Cameron who is just a freshman and was the middle school state champion last year. Monroe made it a double by winning the shot put in 39-0 over teammates Shehara Parmer (38-8) and Cameron (38-5). Mia Mike was fourth in 37-7.

 Day Two Highlights:

  • DAY TWO HIGHLIGHTS VIDEO by Todd Grasley
  • Meet MVPs are Hugh Graham, Jr. of Miami Northwestern and Tynia Gaither of Osceola.
  • Graham wins 100m in a 10.60 over Levonte Whitfield of Jones in 10.87. And then Graham Jr. comes back and dominates in the 400 meters with a blazing time of 46.97, winning by 2.35 seconds.
  • Gaither wins 100 in 12.09 and 200 in 24.56.
  • Armando del Valle wins on cruise control in the 3200 with a time of 9:30, lapping all but 7 others in the 35 peron field. He and his teammates of Miami Columbus go 1-4. There were similar results in the 1600 where Del Valle paces his teammatesand wins in 4:33, with Jose Estevez in tow.
  • Ebony Rose of Dr. Krop wins 800 in meet record 2:16.57. She also won her heat of the 1600 in 5:42.55 for good measure with a 17 second marg.
  • Robin Reynolds wins 400m with state leading 55.03 and leads her Miami Jackson team to victory in the 1K Sprint Medley (2:20.87).
  • Sophomore Artie Burns of Miami Northwestern sweeps guys hurdles with 14.07 and 37.75--both best times in the state this year.
  • Briana Pulido of Archbishop Carroll continues to improve in the 300 Hurdles with new PR and victory of 44.83... she finished 2nd in 100H (15.31). This comes after day one of 6th in the high jump (5-0) and third in the long jump (17-6.75).
  • Miami Northwestern boys clock a 3:17.05 victory in the 4x4 over St. Thomas Aquinas' 3:19.01.
  • Miami Columbus win 4x8 in 8:13 over Miami Central's 8:16.
  • Jones guys earn big time time of 41.74 in the 4x1 to take the state lead.
  • Our Lady of Lourdes breaks 10 this year in the 4x8 with a 9:55.06 over St. Thomas Aquinas' 10:00.18.
  • Northwestern ladies outkick Norland in the 4x4 3:53.22 to 3:57.73.  And the bulls are at it again in the 4x1 with 48.00 over Osceola's 48.28.

Lake Brantley Open, FL (Outdoor Meet)

Highlights:

  • Octavious Freeman of Lake Wales posts new state leading marks in both the 100 and 200 with 11.57 and 24.54, respectively.  She also finished second in the the long jump with a 17-6 to Keara McKnight of Wekiva who jumped 17-8.
  • Lake Wales girls blast a nation-leading 46.79 in the 4x100... that ranks 7th all-time in Florida based on our records (which truthfully only go very deep back a decade). No matter how you slice it... wow!
  • Britni Strates of Edgewater and Joy Brown of Evans each clear 5-4 in high jump. Strates also wins triple jump in 37-0.
  • Nick Posada of Winter Park is victorious in 3200 in 9:39.
  • Jovan Davis of Wekiva sweeps the hurdles: 300 Hurdles in 39.08 and  14.40 in the 110. Kyle Crompton of Ponte Verde is second at 300 in 39.58.
  • Big battle in the girls 300 hurdles with Carmelia Stewart of Wekiva getting to the line first in 45.63. Three others within a tenth of a second: Martisha Hart of Oak Ridge (46.18), Wilkerson Jazzmine of Evans (46.27) and Samantha McCan of Lake Brantley (46.28).
  • Lake Mary Prep shows their strength in the pole vault with Erica Sergent winning in 11-0, Paige Byrnes getting third in 10-6, and Alex Woodruf coming in fourth with a 10-0 clearance. Stephanie Cook of East Ridge interupted their dominance with a 10-6 second place performance.
  • Otniel Teixeira of Lake Brantley wins easily in the 800 with a 1:56.37, after winning 1600 in 4:22 with eight second margin of victory over Will Anguish of Winter Park.
  • Abby Hani of Lake Mary Prep wins 400 in 58.89.
  • Lake Brantley girls cruise to 4:01 4x400.
  • Jamie King of Winter Haven wins shot put in 36-9.
  • Jose Santania of East River wins 200 (22.14) and 400 (49.56).

MITS Indoor State Championships, MI

Highlights

  • Dartis Willis (Southfield) set a new state record and took the overall US lead with a high jump clearance of 7-02.25.  The mark is also a tie for US#11 All-Time.
  • Dynasty McGee set a meet record in the 400m dash with a time of 55.25 (Awards video), and won the triple jump with a meet record leap of 37-00.25 (Awards video).
  • Kyra Jefferson won the girls 200m dash with a US#3 time of 24.36, running virtually alone the entire way.
  • Tori Wesley won the girls pole vault with a mark of 12-03.
  • Nyki Caldwell cleared 12-8 to win the girls high jump.
  • Alexandria Johnson pulled out the win in the 60H with a time of 8.73.
  • Hannah Meier won the girls 1600 with a time of 4:55.32.
  • Brook Handler took the girls 800 with a clocking of 2:14.57.
  • Ali Wiersma won a close race in the girls 3200 run with a time of 10:49.14.
  • Phillip Washington won the boy 400 meter dash with a time of 49.77.
  • Kyle Redwine won the 60m dash with a time of 6.94.

Massachusetts (MIAA) All-State Indoor Championships, MA

Highlights:

  • Andrea Keklak (Sr., Lincoln-Sud) won the 1000 meter run with an All-Time US#9 clocking of 2:47.93.  Keklak's time puts her at US#1 for the indoor season.
  • In the boys 2 mile run,  3 boys had top ten marks.  John Murray (Sr., Shrewsbury) won the event with a US#2 time of 9:08.69. Murray was previously ranked US#9.  
  • Shayne Collins improved his US#2 time of 9:14.51 to 9:09.33 finishing at US#3 behind Murray.  Colllins and Murray stayed together the entire race resulting in a sub 60 second final 400 lap.
  • David Melly (Sr., Mansfield) finished 3rd in the race with a 9:20.13 finish for a US#8.
  • Indian River won the boys 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:30.67
  • Osborn park won the girls 4x200 meter relay with a 1:43.39

 

 

USATF Indoor Track & Field Championships, NM

Highlights:

  • Shelby Ashe (St. Pius) threw 63-4.75 in the weight throw for a US#2.  Ashe holds the US#1 spot with a 65-2.
  • Trinity Wilson (CA) ran with the pro's and finished with an 8.41 US#2 time in the 60 meter hurdles.  Wilson already holds the US#1 time of 8.28
