Emarkis Gunn Pulls Trigger: Signs With TCU

Emarkis Gunn can now focus on the next four years of his track and field career after signing with Texas Christian University. The Palm Beach Lakes senior visited the Fort Worth campus two weeks ago and decided he felt comfortable enough to pull the trigger with the Horned Frogs. He chose TCU over FAMU and FSU because of the program's rich tradition.

"They have a great program with a lot of success in the sprints especially the 400. I know in college the 400 meter hurdles will be my best event. I'll probably run the 400 and 4x400 relay during indoor. Also, TCU has a young team meaning they will be just as competitive for years to come.
Gunn, the 3A state champion in the 300 meter hurdles,  admits his strength is in the longer distance. HIs personal best time of 36.83 is the best in Florida and sixth best in the country for 2011. He is looking forward to competing against Texas schools including Baylor, Texas A&M, and Texas. He says that environment will push him to work hard, reach his full potential, and achieve greatness.

"I want to run 49 seconds in the 400 meter hurdles. I'm looking to take an NCAA Championship in my run and I want to make the Olympic Trials next year."
