The 2026 AAU Junior Olympics are underway at Drake University Stadium in Des Moines, IA. Several of Florida's young Race Walkers made statements leading the way on opening day. The youngsters wasted little time making their presence felt, producing a trio of top-10 finishes in the race walk competition, highlighted by a national championship performance from Eagle Athletics' Khylee Williams and a runner-up finish from teammate Sonny Petrossian.

With hundreds of the nation's best youth athletes competing on one of track and field's biggest stages, Florida's race walkers set the tone early as the first medals of the week were handed out.

Girls 9-Year-Old 1500m Race Walk

Eagle Athletics' Khylee Williams captured the national title in the girls' 9-year-old 1500-meter race walk. Williams crossed the finish line in 13:12.19, giving Florida its first national title of the meet.

In the Girls 12-Year-Old 1500m Race Walk 

Eagle Athletics' Sonny Petrossian earned a national runner-up finish, clocking 8:23.67.p five in the division.
