Week One Merge: Cecil Field Dominates FL's Fastest Times
It was hot and humid across the state, but Florida's cross country athletes delivered some fast performances across the state in the first week of the 2026 FHSAA cross country season.
A merge of 1,000 boys from Week One shows the strength of the Cecil Field Summer Classic field. The top 13 times in the statewide rankings all came from Saturday's race in Jacksonville, led by Belen Jesuit's Armando Cruz. Cruz opened his season with a state-leading 15:06.00, setting the pace in one of the deepest early-season fields Florida has seen.
While Cecil Field dominated the rankings, several athletes from other meets earned spots among the state's top 20.
