Florida Girls' Top 10 Performances From Week Two: A Recap

Week Two of the 2026 Florida cross country season featured a state-leading performance, six meet champions and several of Florida's top runners going head-to-head.

Madison Muller opened her season with the weekend's fastest time by more than 35 seconds. Whispering Pines produced five of the top seven performances, including an impressive victory by Natalia Gaona-Zelaya over a talented field. Muller's state-leading debut highlighted a weekend that included six different meet champions, with Gaona-Zelaya leading a deep Whispering Pines race that accounted for half of the statewide top 10 and five of the top seven performances.

With some experienced returners producing victories and sophomores Lyla Hallick and Mary Summers placing inside the top five, Week Two continued to offer us an early preview of what is shaping up to become a highly competitive Florida girls' cross country season.

Here are Florida's top 10 girls' 5K performances from Week Two.

1. Madison Muller, Sarasota Riverview - 17:33.10

Madison Muller made an immediate statement in her 2026 debut. The Sarasota Riverview junior won the North Port Preserve Pursuit in a state-leading 17:33.10, finishing more than 35 seconds ahead of the next-fastest Florida girl during Week Two. No. 1 overall and 4A in the state rankings. *This is not the same course as the North Port XC Invitational. 

2. Natalia Gaona-Zelaya, Wiregrass Ranch - 18:08.90

Natalia Gaona-Zelaya remained undefeated to begin the season with a victory over a talented field at Whispering Pines. The Wiregrass Ranch senior ran 18:08.90 to lead five girls under 19 minutes and secure the No. 2 performance of the week. No. 4 overall and No. 3 in 4A.

3. Lyla Hallick, Ocala Vanguard - 18:25.40

Lyla Hallick continued her fast start to the season by placing second at Whispering Pines. The Ocala Vanguard sophomore crossed the line in 18:25.40, improving on the 18:37.00 she ran during Week One at Cecil Field. No. 6 overall and No. 1 in 3A.

4. Lydia Vincent, Zephyrhills - 18:34.10

Lydia Vincent followed her runner-up finish at the Lecanto Invitational with another strong performance. The Zephyrhills senior finished third at Whispering Pines in 18:34.10, improving on her Week One time of 18:40.70. No. 10 overall and No. 2 in 3A.

5. Mary Summers, Seven Rivers Christian - 18:39.30

Mary Summers placed fourth in the deep Whispering Pines field with a time of 18:39.30. The Seven Rivers Christian sophomore remained among Florida's early-season leaders after winning the Lecanto Invitational in Week One. No. 9 overall from Lecanto Invitational  18:32.90 and No. 1 in 1A.

6. Katherine Eudaly, Plant - 18:40.20

Katherine Eudaly earned her second victory in as many weeks by winning the Western Hillsborough meet. The Plant junior ran 18:40.20 after opening her season with a victory at the Jim Ryun FCA Invitational. No. 12 overall and No. 6 in 4A.

7. Emma Poekert, Cypress Creek - 18:52.10

Emma Poekert completed the group of five Whispering Pines runners who broke 19 minutes. The Cypress Creek junior placed fifth in 18:52.10, giving her the seventh-fastest performance across Florida during Week Two. No. 15 overall and No. 5 in 3A.

8. Emma Wilkinson, Lakeland Christian - 18:57.62

Emma Wilkinson broke 19 minutes while collecting a victory at the Lake Region-George Whitmire Invitational. The Lakeland Christian junior won in 18:57.62 to earn the No. 8 spot in the statewide Week Two rankings. No. 18 overall and No. 2 in 1A.

9. Selah Vignier, West Shore - 19:06.10

Selah Vignier captured the individual title at the Kowboy XC Invitational. The West Shore junior crossed the finish line in 19:06.10, recording Florida's ninth-fastest girls' time of the week. No. 8 overall: 18:32 from the Wickham Jamboree (preseason) and No. 1 in 2A.

10. Nicole Lewis, Doral Academy - 19:09.05

Nicole Lewis closed out the statewide top 10 with a victory at Friday's Pine Crest Cross Country Meet. The Doral Academy junior recorded a winning time of 19:09.05. No. 24 overall and No. 13 in 4A.
