This Week's Nominees:
Madison Muller, Sarasota Riverview HS (Florida): Winning by 88.7 seconds is the kind of margin that ends any suspense early, and that's exactly what happened at the Lakewood Ranch XC Invite. A 5K time of 17:53.96 was good for 1st out of 126 finishers, and the number holds up historically too: it's the fastest in MileSplit's database at this course since 2003, spanning 472 athletes, and the fastest junior mark in that same database over 161 junior athletes.
Anne Vanos, Boone HS (Florida): A 5K time of 18:45.19 was enough to win the West Orange XC Invitational 2026 by 9.3 seconds, taking first out of 103 finishers. The mark ranks No. 15 of 3,317 athletes in MileSplit's database at this course since 2009, and No. 8 among 1,280 juniors tracked there over that same period.
Madelyn Fischer, Jensen Beach HS (Florida): Only 3.5 seconds separated first from second at the Jensen Beach Fleet Feet Invitational, where a 5K in 19:18.28 was good enough for the win among 140 finishers. It's the fastest time recorded in MileSplit's database at this course since 2024 among 414 athletes, and the fastest junior mark there in that window covering 110 juniors. The clocking also came 107.8 seconds faster than a prior mark of 21:06.10 on this course.
Analyse St John, Lennard (Florida): A freshman took first among 60 finishers at the Spartan XC Invite, covering the 5K in 18:39.00 and winning by 10 seconds. That time is the fastest logged in MileSplit's database at this course since 2016 across 346 athletes, and the fastest among the 92 freshmen recorded there since that year.
Avery Hartley, Bartram Trail HS (Florida): The margin came down to 1.5 seconds at the Bale N Trail CC Original, where a 5K time of 18:17.50 edged out the rest of a 93-runner field for first place. That time sits at No. 8 among 5,533 athletes in MileSplit's database at this course since 2002, and No. 2 among 2,281 sophomores tracked there over the same span.
*** If a Girl wins one of the weekly polls, they will not be considered in subsequent polls until the end of the season FL MileSplit Cross Country Athlete of the Year poll.
