Flrunners, FACA Team Up For All-Star Meet

Flrunners.com is proud to announce it is again teaming up with the FACA (Florida Athletic Coaches Association) to provide jerseys for this year's Senior All-Star Meet participants. The meet, which will take place on December 3rd at Apalachee Regional Park (near the campus of Florida State University), is a chance for seniors to showcase themselves to college coaches and go out with one final hoorah. Flrunners.com founder Jason Byrne says he has always made it a goal to support the FACA whenever possible, whether it be the hosting coach social at the annual clinic, by speaking at events, or a sponsorship such as this.

"It's always an important partnership for me. I think the association is crucial. I view it as a voice of the sport and our representative to the FHSAA. And I want to do anything I can to get behind them. Last year Mike Boza was the cross country chair and asked if I'd sponsor the meet and I was happy to do it. When Kristin (McWilliams) took over this year I told her that I'd do it again if finances allowed. Thanks to our subscribers we were able to do it again. All the kids will get jerseys that have their region and the flrunners logo on them.  Last year people were raving about them, and I love it because it's something these seniors take with them when they go to college. It's a real nice keepsake from their high school careers and I am glad we can be a part of it."

This year's athletes were nominated from the four geographical regions (north, south, east, and west) by area coaches. Each runner is asked to raise a seventy-five dollar sponsorship fee that goes towards their hotel, awards, medals, and possibly other goodies that are in the works. FACA Cross Country Chairman Kristin McWilliams says everyone chipping in goes along way.

"In the past we've had to find other sources for jerseys and what not and finding funding for the meet has been difficult. As far as flrunners donating the jerseys, it gives us a chance to provide a quality uniform for the kids. Each team has a different color and you can really spot the kids what teams they are on and how many jerseys are coming in from each region. The jerseys really help us in making  the meet a big honor that younger kids hopefully will want to strive to receive an invitation to in future years."

Other sponsors include Gulf Winds Track Club and Capital City Bank. Chris Sumner of Elite Timing has donated his timing services for the meet and FSU provided the course all in an effort to celebrate the kids and their achievements. McWilliams can't wait for this year's event.

"I'm really excited about the potential coverage on flrunners as well with photos and videos and what not. It's something we haven't had in the past. It's a great chance for kids to showcase their talent to college coaches and hangout with runners from other areas."
