Interview with Levonte Whitfield and Marvin Bracy

Although this meet is billed as the "Metro Conference Finals" as if it were one thing, don't be fooled. This is really two meets crammed into one track, on one night. In what could be one of the finest regional showdowns in the state, right up there with GMAC and Broward County, what we get instead is a long and somewhat watered down championship meet. We get to see some of the greatest athletes in Central Florida, only they may or may not be actually competing in the same heat.

What a shame it was to see Marvin Bracy and Levonte Whitfield there on the same track, both racing in the "200 Meter Finals," only they were racing in two different heats back to back. What a tease!

Up until two or three years ago this was a reality. There was an East Championship and a West Championship and then the tops from each of those went on to go head-to-head. And yet now we don't get that anymore. GMAC, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties find a way to have qualifying meets going to a single county championship. Why can't we here in Orange County?

Don't get me wrong, there were certainly some fantastic competition out there, great times, great battles tonight! But the meet could have gotten over twice as fast, stands been three times as full, and it been twice as much fun. Come on! Let's make this happen next year, Orlando!
