Cocoa Beach Senior Recognized With Scholarships

Cocoa Beach senior Shelby Davidson won a state championship in cross country and followed it up with one more state title in track and field. Davidson won the 3200 meters at the 2A State Finals. In addition to being a standout on the track and cross country course, she is also a stellar performer in the classroom, and in the community. For this she was recently awarded two scholarships.

On Thursday she received the David F. St. John Memorial Scholarship Award for $450. The honor is given to one guy and one girl from the entire Brevard County area. Winners were chosen by the Cape Coast Conference board  based on academics, leadership skills, and community service.  Her school also won the team Cape Coast Conference Award for accumulating the most points of any school when adding up the combined total  of points earned from all sports.

The following day Davidson collected more hardware. She was invited to the Bright House Sports Network's Breakfast of Champions. She was chosen the Girls' Cross Country Runner of the Year and was also picked as the Girls' Scholar of the Year from the entire county. As a result she received two medals and an award for $500. Holy Trinity senior Daniel Moore was chosen as the Boys' Cross Country Runner of the Year.

Congratulations to Shelby, Daniel, and the rest of the runners across the state who performed well both athletically and academically.
