In His Own Words: Cory Sayyeau

Hey everyone , back again writing and just before the season kicks off. The past few weeks have been a little shaky for us. Since we train in the afternoon we’ve been getting rained out so many times. Those days are usually our work-out days in which I already ran in the morningso I just do another  six miles or so on my own since there is no practice. Due to that, leading up to the Wickham Park Jamboree we didn’t have the best couple weeks.

HUGE LESSON LEARNED

It was my friend’s birthday Friday night so a bunch of friends and I went out to celebrate it. This is the day before the jamboree! I stayed out till around 1am -2am and didn’t get to bed till late and had to wake up at 5:30 a.m. to leave for the race. Not the best way to prepare for a race at all so I strongly recommend getting to bed a lot earlier and get your rest!

So race morning I somehow am able to get out of bed , get ready, and leave for the race. Most of our guys team is there by the time I get there and the race is starting soon. I was able to do a ten minute warm up ,stretch ,get the spikes on and get to the line with some time to spare. The race starts and I don’t know why but I just wasn’t paying attention for the first  ten meters and then I started to go towards the front. Throughout the race I ran with two other teammates Costa Stathis & Dylan Taylor. They started to pull away as the  two mile mark neared, but at the end I was able to make up some ground and we all finished within eight seconds of each other. Costa is just a speed monster so watch out for him toward the end of the races people. Dylan won't ever let you get to far away. I think that’s just his competitiveness he has always had since his younger days of being a pro skateboarder.  The rest of the team finished really nicely , some good performances to start the season, and I think BK should watch out for us this season cause we are coming strong.
So a side from running i live a pretty normal typical life at home. Most of the time either out with friends or sitting at home just being lazy watching 1,000 different movies. I do have one little hobby i love and that's to ride my bike. I don't have a super fast speed bike ,but just a normal plain bike and it gets me places. So every once in a whil I'll just hope on the bike in the morning and ride all day , stop at different places , and enjoy Brevard County. Here's a couple pictures from yesterdays ride i did. It was 50.85 miles one of my longer rides I've done. The picture with the huge trees. I call that the green monster named after Fenway Park's green monster.

Next Race : Katie Caples @ BK
Song I'll be listening to on my warm-up:  "Automatic Stop" By The Strokes
