Meet Recap

John Weaver of Mandarin picked a great time to set a new personal best. The senior won the 4A-1 District Championship at the Flagler County Fairgrounds in 15:51.78. FPC's Thomas Carroll coming off a great performance at the Five Star Conference Championship finished second in 16:01.39. Buchholz's  John Dougherty and Lucas Shannon battled it out for third and fourth with Dougherty getting the slight edge 16:07.69 to 16:07.91. Mandarin placed seven runners in the top twelve to take the team title with 30 points. Buchholz squeaked out a one point victory over FPC 50-51 while Fletcher got the fourth and final spot with 151 points to advance to regionals.

The jump from class 1A to 4A hasn't effected Fletcher's Danielle Van Liere who came to the school this year from Providence. Van Liere won easily in a time of 19:34.28. The freshman hadn't run since the middle of October when she won the Gateway Conference Championship, but the layoff didn't seem to matter. Three other runners Theresa Duncan and Ania Grzeszczak of Mandarin, and Isabella Whalen of Buchholz all broke twenty minutes for the day. Much like the boys race, the Mustang's girls ran away with the team championship scoring 30 points. Buchholz, FPC, and Fletcher rounded out the top four and will advance to regionals.
